Alot of cats will take a piece of food out of the bowl before they eat it. :)
    They are very pretty kitties.
Thank you for sharing them. :)

i think it might have something to do with their natural hunter gather instinct. they are natural predators and like to play with their food before they eat it. and since its a house cat it doesn't have much fun playing anymore.. but that hardwire to kill is still in its head.. sooooo just keep feeding them :)
  • Haha. One of my cats does that exact same thing. It's soooo cute!

It's also convenient. My cat sometimes lays on the floor and scoops food out and eats it. The scooping method means he can lay around and eat at the same time ;)

my cat doesn't have any strange eating habits, other than his likes/dislikes:

my cat loves fruit. especially melon, apples, peaches, and grapes. seriously, i have to share with him, he's all over me, as soon as i bit into something. he even ate the pumpkin guts when i was making a jack-o-lantern at halloween.

he's also seems to really like vanilla yogurt, cool ranch doritos, coffee, and anything minty (he licks the sink after i've brushed my teeth)....

  • My cat used to do that.. he cracked me up :) Oh good ol' Sammy, I miss you buddy.

My cats are the complete opposite of that!! When I brush my teeth and put the toothbrush near them--they smell the mint and RUN AWAY!!! :D

My oldest cat, Madeline, she scoops soft food out with her paw and eats it off her paw.. its her little pawspoon!

She's such a diva, I'm surprised she'd get her paw dirty.

i wish that were the case. he's actually attracted to it.
he comes running, jumps up on the counter, whether there's room for him or not... my make-up, contact lens case, face wash, jewelry, etc, get knocked on the floor.... grrr... what a pain.

    it's a good thing he's cute... :p

    Isn't she beautiful?
    She is a sweetheart too.
    I pretend I can't stand her...but she knows I love her.
I torture her with little dresses and sweaters.

I have a kitty who kind of does the same thing. He'll eat out of the dish, but we leave the basically empty can for him to lick out, and if we left any food in it, he'll work on getting it out on his paw to eat. They are quite smart. And motivated.
