Nice deck! I wish they'd re-issue Lance Mountain's Future Primative decks. Those were NICE.

Well, go to Chick's Sporting Goods and buy a complete deck for 20% off. Mine, after everything, was just over $140.

Because things were much less complicated back then!

All we had to worry about was inflation and the red scare!

Some months ago I was taking a stroll on Santa Monica pier late at night and I saw this old, psuedo-homeless guy with a near-mint condition old-school Vision Mark Gonzales. I was like holy shit that's a near-mint condition old-school Vision Mark Gonzales. Now methinks it was some kind of reissue?

If it was the original, he might have been able to sell it for some food and a place to stay for a bit

Why would you want an 80s deck?

I quit skating back in 1988 or 1989, and those were the decks that were around. I tried skating on some of the narrower boards with the tails on both ends but it didn't seem right. I have to retrain myself and then get into the more modern boards. Besides, the deck I had back in the 80s was a Caballero (The dragon with the rectangular border).

So, who else owned the Future Primitive video? Classic shit :)

Animal Chin!!!! The street part with Tommy Gurero(sp) was the best!!!!

The Bones Brigade videos were the shit!!! the late '80s was the greatest time to be a skater

Hey Cree? Was that the John Lucero deck? Had one as well... Think it's still in storage...

I saw a mention of "The Gonz". He has signed with Adidas skateboarding. His shoes kind of have an '80's flare to them.

I think it was cant remember, snapped that deck in half on 1/4 pipe wipeout. It had an elephant on it and was sweeter than fuck. Im pretty sure the guy was a European skater. The 80's was the best time to skate, I can say that cause I skated in the 80's (1983 on) and stopped around 91.

Sounds like a Lucero... My last deck from the '80s...

Picked up a Birdhouse Tony Hawk steet deck in '01.

I stopped skating hardcore in '92-The year I discovered snowboarding... Now only skate around in the summer, to keep the legs in shape for winter.

I have an Emek T.S.O.L. board and the current Indy trucks I could find were drilled for the shor pattern. I was able to locate some no name set with both pattern.
    Nice board.

Although I like having wider trucks (149s) and softer wheels. I pretty much cruise the strand or ride it to the liquor store.

Me too. I prefer getting wrecked in a field of powder as opposed to a set of stairs.

I bought an Animal Chin shirt a few years ago online. Brings back the memories :)

I completely stopped skateboarding once I started snowboarding. I skated for about 3 years in all my spare time basically every single day. I was pretty good but I burned myself out of it. After I was done, the Tony Hawk videogame came out and suddenly every little kid and his grandma was buying a skateboard. My city only had one crappy skatepark when I skated and now there are at least 4 that I know of.

I hate the whole skatepark/snowboard park thing. I would have killed to have all the skate and snowboard parks now that kids today have. We had Burnside, but I was a little young for that at the time. It's not a safe place for the younger crowd. Now there's a fuckin' bajillion skate parks here, drives me crazy. http://www.skateoregon.com/

Plus I loathe all the annoying little poser kids and their youtube videos ;)

I had to put curbwax all over any ledge higher than a normal curb. I used to build my own ramps too (often only to take them apart the next day and build a new one)
