edit: please accept my humble apology if you were offended by the subject. I was sort of kidding around just to get a bored person at work's reply. Although, I am glad that I did plan for the future since it became necessary to help out someone unfortunate.

somebody asked about name brands on here the other day. I was unfamiliar with them.
Yep, I plan for the future. Just remember that when you pay $400 - $1,000 for your clothes or purse. I don't.
I'm so glad I've been cheap, it really helped me when gas was so high.

I listen to the news and I read magazine article about the average person's credit card debts. Pretty bad (at interest over 20 percent)

I didn't read the original thread. However, sometimes it's worth the investment for quality. In theory a higher price should equate to a higher quality product, which should equate to a longer life of the product. That is not always the case, of course.
I have a kitchen aide mixer from 1998 that will probably last a good 60 more years. Those things just never break down. A cheap hand held mixer may last a few years.
My mom gave me one of her hand-me-down coats in 1985, and I still wear it. It's a peacoat that never goes out of style. I just take it to the tailors if it shows too much wear and tear. It's definitely worth the money to sew the holes or the seams then to get a new coat.
I get your point, though. Sometimes it is the brand name, and brand name only, that inflates the price. It's a trial and error approach in some cases. Definitely adds spice to life. There is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

I agree about the appliances. But I found a name brand vaccuum cleaner at a discount store for $68.
I would be scared to carry a decent looking expensive purse, the robberies are increasing in these bad economic times. my friend's expensive purse's strap broke (and so did her heart

i dont even have a mattress... i pay 16 women from Tanzania (widely regarded as the country where the women have the world's softest hands) to hold me up whilst i sleep.
1 of them is paid extra to collect the tissue each morning.oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0
