does the red cross really drop some of your blood in water?

what passes the test -- floating or sinking blood?

what if your blood pressure is up? I'm not on meds now, but my bp was not great when I went to the ENT doctor on friday.

No that test is no longer used, at least not at our donor center. That was a test to determine the level of iron in your blood. It is now done on a different, more accurate machine that does not require dropping it into a liquid.

Your iron level has to be at a certain point before you can donate.

Depending on how high your blood pressure is, you may be told you can not donate.

I encourage all of you to consider donating. Someone in this country needs blood every 3 seconds and the blood supply is always at dangerously low levels at this time of year.

and just yesterday, someone I know has a friend in the hospital that needed a transfusion, and will probably requrie more. And just one week ago, this was a healthy young man. You just NEVER know how quickly your world can be turned upside down.

it made me feel good to know that I do my part 5 times a year to help save lives.

if you can do it, do it. I've been doing it for over 20 years now.
Don't come closer or I'll have to go
