what happened to kate hudson?

we were thinking about going to see "fool's gold" this weekend and we watched the trailer online.

what happened to kate? was she made up to look old in that movie? it seemed like she was terribly thin. :(

    Saw her on Letterman the other night. She was looking tired and like she had aged a decade in about a year.
