about 5 inches of my hair is washed out blonde again and the top is brown where I've been using Garnier (permanent) light brown since July. I'm getting it colored at 6 tonight. It will probably be temporary brown that I get on the lighter part. Blah.

have you have low lights to darken your hair?

I have! I had it done once because my hair was getting really light and looked really unnatural so I had them add in some light brown to give it a little more natural feel. It worked really well. And its not as bad for your hair, like getting high lights can be.

I have blonde highlights and reddish-brown lowlights. I like it, it looks way more natural than just blonde highlights against my hair.

No. I once dyed my hair in grade 8. It looked so terrible growing out, I have never dyed it since. I am waiting to play with color for when I grey and I need it.

I have a friend who's hairdresser says many women get blonder as they get older. She low light's her hair.

In eighth grade, I used peroxide on my hair and had orange streaks!

my natural color is dark brown (ash brown, one stylist said) with lots of gray.
I colored it blonde for many years and sometimes it ended up reddish blonde.
then the blonde was not covering the gray anymore, that's why I switched to brown. last summer they started putting temporary brown meanwhile I died the roots permanent brown. I have 4" of permanently dyed hair with gross blonde brown mixed with gray. I have a mess. My stylist tonight is a young lady with horrible looking hair but she is very good at her job. (I go to different people)

It is, but it's a little darker than I'd like it to be. I'm thinking about going super blonde again, like I was a few years ago. It's just so expensive to maintain!

It's sort of like a medium brown. It's hard to say. It's weird, because it has a lot of blonde in it if you look up close, but from far away and especially in photos, it is very brown.

my sister's hair looks fried in some spots from highlites. don't know why she bothers, she has alot of gray. she has to blow dry her hair to straighten it too.
have you tried some carmel high lights instead of blonde?

I think I did caramel but it came out too brassy for some reason and my hair got so dry. I used that loreal color expert kit. I finally went to a salon and Im better off.

I really screwed up my hair with one of those kits once. I had to have my stylist give me a bunch of highlights to cover it up. I will never try to do my own highlights again! :D

I won't either...I 'll leave that to the pros :). Plus I made them too chunky and i had these wierd chunky brassy streaks.

And then it dried out..I had to keep slathering deep conditioner on it. Now my hair is nice and healthy :)

I could not go tonight. At 5:15, my mom called. Her blood sugar was too high so I had to get her a new kind of insulin.
I've got some bleach that I buy at Walmart (I think it is by Clairol, used to be by L'Oreal) for $9 when I want to throw in a few
    subtle highlites.
