Sad news. Such a cool voice he had.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - Musician/Actor Isaac Hayes died early Sunday morning, according to Shelby County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Shular.

A Shelby County sheriff's deputy responded to Hayes' home after his wife found him on the floor near a treadmill inside his home.

Hayes was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 2:08am.

Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff's Department are continuing their investigation into Hayes' death, but they believe no foul play was involved.

    I just looked at Issac Hayes website and he's pictured with Bernie Mac who also died the other day, pretty strange.

    He does look bad, a great actor (*Cool Hand Luke* top 5 movies of all time) with a long lasting marriage.

    RIP Mr Hayes with one of the greatest movie themes ever Shaft and SHAFT opening scene (1971).

    It was supposed to be Morgan Freeman, but the Lord was pleased with his portrayal of the Almighty in Bruce Almighty and cut him a break...for now.

    I could not help but think about how he coined the phrase "Shut yo mouth".

    He had such a big influence on the image of the strong African American in the 70's, the present and the future. He captured an essence...a perfume if I may...of how something was imprinted in an instant.
