In the mid 90's as a finnish high school student, i remember staying up until 12:30 a.m no matter how early morning i had when MSNBC or whatever it was aired then new and fresh Conan O'Brien Show with Andy Richter, usually loving every minute of it at least the parts before the guests came on. Too bad they've lost the edge...luckily the internet hasn't

  • Cona's hilarious! It doesn't matter who the guest is, he's always hilarious. I'll admit, though, he's especially funny with H.S. Thompson.

Coincidentally, Fear and Loathing is on the History Channel tonight. I love Thompson. I love Depp. I love Del Toro. But, I don't like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
No time to be void or save up on life. You got to spend it all.
  • There is a speech he gave somewhere that's around the internet where he says how the difference between a good guest=a good comedian is the amount of work they are willing to do to be funny. He goes on to say how some celebrities are too self aware and lazy to really work on to be funny. For example people like Jim Carrey come early and are open to ideas also bringing some themselves.

Those times the visit turns out as more than just another interview. As a long time viewer of Conan it really shows which guests are actually funny and which are just dependent on their reputation without any real talent and those interviews are the most boring of all when Conan has to sink below the guests level and try to suck up to them.

It's strange to see how John Leguizamo is actually more boring as a human being than Mister T for example, eventhough as an actor Leguizamo is probably superior. (ok A-Team rules)

All and all during the early days Conan used to be funny basically every night but nowadays maybe once/twice a week...
