To be honest I come here for two things... friends, a bit of understanding and total crap and tomfoolery. OK, four things. :D If this board can make me laugh then it's done its job... which is why I frequently avoid any PJ news. I come here for the fan community, not bitching about tickets and piss contests about how many concerts everyone's been to or how rubbish the 10c are.

Here's to the nonsense threads. Nonsense threads make the world go round...

  • Agreed. The board has been different as of late.. and not in a good way. Seems full of fluff lately. Not that anyone post anything earth shattering on a message board anyway but lately it feels a lot like grade seven.

cmon....It's grade 6 and you know it...you were just being nice

As someone said, facebook and myspace. And maybe blogs. Or an increasing decline in literacy and an increase in ADD. But the last suggestion's just a guess. ;)

    I'm a goofball, what can I say?! :p

I do miss the old old board from 2002-2003...those were good times....great times...in fact I remember some of you from that time and then others...not soo much!! "Some" people I have met on here are very special and dear to me though!! :)

want serious threads? See moving train.

want a ton of jibberish about nothing...see porch. those threads are fast and furious. the thread you just hit "submit reply" for is on the second page by the time it posts (slight exagerration).

If you want to kill time, shoot the shit, post your opinions, learn whats happening with the band, show off your poor spelling, then see all other forums.

ever heard of myspace or facebook? :p

i still haven't ventured into the genre of interwebz.

I've used those a little, but still not sure how that replaces a message board for a specific topic like Pearl Jam.

When I was on myspace, there were forums for Pearl Jam, but those were really just message boards so it's hard for me to understand how myspace or facebook would replace them. Sure you're going to a different place, but it's still a message board.

Yeah, I've been noticing that, too.

  • I dunno. The train is still arguing about the same shit. The porch still has fifty threads about the same thing, two or three about the most minuscule pearl jam reference ever (Holy crap! I heard pearl jam on "where ever"." and a few threads that are pretty interesting. And the AET is still silly and zany.

No, people just don't bother with message boards at all. They communicate differently on social networking sites, via comments and bulletins, largely about nothing in particular.

Well I could be wrong, but I don't really see comments on a social site replacing threads of information from a message board.

They won't replace them. People will just stop passing on as much information. I think that's probably what they're there for. ;)

Did you just read my post in the heroin thread? :o I saw you just posted in it.

Because I'm not normally like that :) The guy I was replying to just really wound me up over something that is very serious to me.

I wasn't on the old board...so I can't say if it's changed...the only thing I've seen that has bothered me is when a poster is personally attacked or criticized...whether it's about a thread they created...their point of view on an issue...their personal experiences/choices...that they've posted too much on a thread...blah blah blah...i'm all for debating a topic...but when it comes to debating a person I feel very uncomfortable.
