well spain deserved the championship. they just ruled the tournament.

ballack needs to play better in those finals. he always sucks playing them.

congrats spain. torres was the man.
  • What a great tournament. The final match wasn't that great. Germany didn't even play like they deserved to be there. Spain dominated them. Torres worked his ass off to get that goal and it was a great one. Even though I like Ballack as a player, he did a lot of whining to the refs yesterday, didn't help his team much.

Any match involving Turkey were my favorites. Any match they were involved in was great until the final whistle. I wish it would have been Spain and Turkey in the finals. Might have been a more exciting match.

Overall a fantastic tourney and I was glad I got to see so many matches being in the US.

I dunno... sure he kept scoring... but that's cos he kept getting great passes... and always had the ball. He probably scored one out of every five sitters he had :o Ok, he gets himself in the right positions but I think Spain's finishing was dreadful for the amount of chances they had. I think there's somebody else in the midfield who's not getting the credit they deserve for winning Euro 2008.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!

the games i saw, torres was running and working quite hard, trying to create space and room for villa. he had some great passing. well the team worked as a unit. well done. xavi, iniesta, silva and marcos senna played extremely well have to say that i really enjoyed senna doing the dirty work, but i think torres did that as well. i think you could mention 4 to 8 players out of their team. they dominated from the goalkeeper to defenders to midfielders to forwards.

his tight shirts freaked me out :(

why all the love for torres as well?? i don't get it, sure it was a well taken opportunity in the final, but compared to how he played for liverpool this season he was AVERAGE all tournament, at best!

i thought fabregas was a star everytime he played, that kid is incredible. good to see he made the tournament team, & mostly from the bench!

congrats to spain, best team won, great tournament :)

now what the hell do i do???

    1. he didnt keep scoring... he only got 2 the whole tournament.

    2. he did get great passes.. but he makes the runs to give the passer the opportunity... his running off the ball is a huge part of his game... its immense and he puts in a shitload of running.

    3. I agree... Senna has been frickin awesome... I thought he was brilliant through the whole tournament.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Hmm... I watched a good three quarters OF the tournament... ask before YOU talk bollox :p

So yeh, for someone who lost love for 'football' a long time ago, I think I did quite well :) AND I think it was quite a decent tournament... Turkey provided the most entertainment for me... I also had much hope for Holland in the early stages but ALAS.

I just posted my opinion on Torres... you don't agree... so what?

good points... I DID mention that he gets himself in the right positions, which obviously is a help... but I'd say of ALL the players in the tournament, he provied the most 'ah for fuck sake, how the fuck did he miss that?' moments.

well i'd disagree (but you'd expect that ;) ) as having only missed one game of the whole tournament i can tell you Luca Toni and Gomez from Germany should actually have both their feet chopped off and their heads replaced by anvils.

Klose was poor, Henry was woeful... but Toni was the biggest duffer of them all.

Oooooohh fuck yeh! How could I forget Toni  but I thought Torres came a close second... and you're right about Klose too

Great tournament! Some awesome performances. I was sure either Portugal or Holland would win after the first few matches, Spain deserved it though.
Best game for me was Czech Republic v Turkey as I was in Turkey watching it in bar. The Turks went fuckin nuts. After the winner went in the bar guys managed to set fire to the bar and danced in the flames. That's what i call a celebration.

How do Germany keep getting to finals? Extremely ordinary boring shite. I suppose the draw helped them out this time though as it did in the 2002 world cup.

:D I only caught the last 15 mins of that game... when it was still 2-0 :D what a great time to tune in.

It was the only exciting part of the game! The bar was deathly quite and then mayhem set in. If they are in the next world cup I'll have to go again.:D
