Pray for me. I haven't been in 6 years and I'm scared, physically scared of dentists. I have a cracked tooth and I know its going to hurt. I'm taking my mum too lol.

My dentist and I have an understanding. :)

If he doesn't hurt me, I won't hurt him! :p

Perhaps you should make this arrangement with your dentist? :D

Good luck with it. You'll be ok. :)
    NOPE!!!

    Hope you have insurance :)

I had a broken tooth and went to the dentist. I'm on my 5th appointment for the same tooth. I see a root canal in your future :)
    NERDS!

  • aww! good luck! :)
A friend of mine was so physically scared of the dentist he couldn't even sit in the waiting room without feeling faint while I had a root canal in a seperate room upstairs! I really sympathise. Just explain your phobia and any dentist worth their weight in fillings will re-assure you and put you at ease. Remember, they're there to help :)
I, on the other hand, enjoy going to the dentist :D

When visiting the dentist, I keep my hands on my tummy and concentrate on nice belly breaths to avoid tensing up my neck muscles and adding upper body pain.

I was in the same boat as you when I went last December.

    Wasn't that bad.

Except the 5 cavities and the tooth I had to have removed.

    That's out of control.

You're on the other end of the spectrum......the dentist is a monthly trip for me.

    Love getting my teeth cleaned.
    fuck the public
  • I'm having a root filling in 2 hours.

I'm going to buy myself a new wii game after lol. Something to think about while I'm in the chair! I may even take my iPod...

I recommend that! Music could be good to relax you.

btw, root fillings don't hurt imo. When I had one and took my music I fell asleep! :o

you're mentally scared.. not physically scared. :)

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I went to the dentist last week and found out I have to have a root canal, not really looking forwards to it!
I have to wait till I get a proper dentist though as the one I saw last week was just an emergency one.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.

  • Yeah it wasn't too bad in the end (as these things never are). I just need to go back in a couple of weeks for some follow up work, but its good that I don't have any pain anymore!

The injections and stress have made me really sleepy though lol. And my mouth still hasn't woken up!

Oh man... I'm the complete opposite. I hate getting my teeth cleaned, it always hurts really bad... I think I'm sensitive to mouth pain.

If I had the choice of amputating one of my fingers in order to never see the dentist again... I'd consider it long and hard!

I feel your pain....I hate dentists too. I have a cavity I need to get filled and I keep putting it off.

Oh I'm glad it wasn't too terrible. I understand,
I have had 14 root canals in my life! And I have a tooth that's been broken for 2 yrs (it's had a root canal so it doesn't hurt) but I can't get it fixed b/c I don't have insurance and they want $4000

the tooth is attached to two other teeth in a partial bridge and in order to fix all that, that's how much it costs!

  • I Have the best dentist ever!

I spend the entire time laughing at his sick jokes and warped humour.
But before I found him.... I was exactly the same. Put up with severe tooth pain for a very long time. The when the tooth was extracted, I couldnt believe I had immediate relief and kicked my own arse for not going sooner!!

    Two recommendations.
    1. Find a great dentist. There is a huge difference between good and great. Take the time to find a great one!
    2. Go every six months for cleaning and check ups. Really makes a big difference. I actually enjoy going now.

I do feel for you though. :( I've been there. :)
