Funny fall (NYC women will appreciate most)

So last night I was going to Duane Reade over on Vanderbilt near Grand Central and the bulk of the block has those steel grates on the sidewalk. It is the ventilation for the trains underground.

So this girl comes out of DR and goes to cross the street...she is dressed in a suit and wearing high heeled pumps. She puts 1 foot down and her heel goes into the grate so she loses her balance.....and starts to fall forward....then her 2nd foot goes down and also gets stuck in the grate.....next thing you know, poor girl has fallen into the street is on the ground shoeless - her 2 high heels stuck a few feet behind her in the grates.

Well....I never laughed so hard at someone falling - of course AFTER asking her if she was okay - and she was laughing too. As was anyone else who saw. It was hilarious.

I thought most NYC females knew never to step on those while wearing heels.....maybe she was new to town :)

That's hilarious. I cannot positively contain myself when I see people fall, or when I fall myself.

The other day, when it was snowy outside I fell on the stairs of my son's school. Did the whole legs up thing and domino-kicked the mom in front of me who fell as well.

    :D

One time on the mountains my mom and I were walking. A car was parked on the sidewalk, so she went on one side of it and I went on the other. At some point I was talking to her and all of a sudden on the other side of the car I see her feet instead of her head. Priceless.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

I barely step on those grates even when not in heels. (Not from nyc, but I go there whenever I can)

  • I've never fallen, but I have gotten my heel stuck and my shoes have come right off as I continued walking! (they have those in lots of cities!)

me neither. in fact, just reading this thread made me laugh out loud.

karma got me bad this weekend, though. i laughed for about two days over my friend falling hard on some ice a few weeks ago. saturday i was the one that bit it. i was walking into my nephew's birthday party over some snow...package in one hand, bowl with fruit and dip in the other....landed on my stomach - present and fruit went flying. jeans were snow covered all the way up to my hip. i had an audience and they all enjoyed it. :D

this also happened to me yesterday. i was walking along wooden train tracks in heels....got stuck, shoe came off, people piled up behind me. it's been a rough week. :)

I know exactly where that is!

oh no! Fortunately she was ok! She could have broken an ankle! Yeah I don't like to step on those things at all, heels or not!

  • :D I LOVE seeing people fall, obviously if they're not hurt... but especially if it's first thing in the morning.

SLIGHTLY off track... yesterday I got off the train and was walking along behind this girl in a skirt... I was kinda looking at the ground and at one stage looked up as she was trying to control the skirt in the wind. Her skirt went RIGHT up, her entire arse and legs were on view... but 'luckily' she was wearing HUGE knickers :D I laughed the whole way home... poor girl.

Nope, no kids. Just very concerned parents. I swear I don't know how they kept a straight face after that one :D
