Anyone watch this? I've been looking for a new show to watch, so I downloaded a couple of episodes of How I met your mother, and I really love it. Anyone else like it?

This is one of my favorites, along with 2 and a 1/2 Men.

It's one of the better generic american sitcoms, but it's a generic american sitcom all the same.

Sorry... I don't really 'get' american humour. Too in your face and punchline driven for my liking. Occassionally it works (Frasier and Friends) but for every one that works there's a dozen that are trying way too hard (King of Queens, Will & Grace, War at Home etc.). Of the lot, How I met your Mother is definitely the most watchable of the present sitcoms though, except over here it's aired at 2am.

I have seen an episodes or 2..it is ok. I have actually been watching a show on TBS called My Boys. It is a pretty funny show. I think the new season starts some time in June.

I hear ya. I have a neighbor from Wales and she is constantly giving me British sitcoms on DVD. The humor is "lost in the translation", if you will..
  • I love that show! In fact, i almost named my kitten Swarley.
    It's Ledgen..

    ....wait for it....

    ..DARY :D
Really though, Neil Patrick Harris totally makes the show.

    Swarly.... that was fantastic.

Did you see the recent episode when Neil Patrick Harris is sitting at his laptop, and the Doogie Howser music starts playing...

this guy i work with said i should watch it, but the way he asked me was the best part.

him: "dude, have you ever seen 'how i met your mom'?"
me: "no, but i will start now."

he's not from around these parts.

Sorry, i have to throw the other side out there. As males, me and my roomate have watched this show a handful of times and absolutely wanted to smash my TV with an axe.

That shitstick Doogie howser...how those guys remain friends with him, i'll never understand. I've sen episodes where he tries to keep his buddy from having a 3-way, i've seen him cock-block, and last week the dicknipple fucks his best friends ex-g/f. that was it, i'll never watch that show again...those characters are idiots.

love this show - pretty much the only show that I make a point to watch each week now that Entourage is not on.

and Krisdababe had the greatest post above regarding 'legend...wait for it...dary' - i love that. NPH freakin rocks.

my wife and I watch that show every week...it's pretty dang funny...just this week, there was a flashback to colonial Philadelphia to the supposed birth of the "Bro Code" and Franklin called Washington a 'codpiece blocker' - that's a joke only a few people would catch...kinda impressive

    plus, Robin is pretty smokin'...

I used to watch it a good bit and enjoyed it. NPH is definitely the best thing in it. It would be pretty flat without him. Must pick up again, see where the story is. I stopped in the middle of the 2nd series last time.
