    Me always say books.
A personalised book selection is an invaluable gift that enriches and lasts.
Music, obviously. Sometimes a classic album that has proven staying power can be better than the latest thing.

Under no circumstances ever buy anything from one of those "mens gift shops" full of generic wallets, shaving sets and similar crud. Nothing screams "I know nothing about you" quite as well.
    Music is not a competetion.

This!! Just reading the thread title makes me nervous. Funds this year very LOW. One parents' death and major surgery for another one=2 months out of work for the year.
(but books are a good idea).

I'm buying my brother tickets for the Toronto Raptors, I figure it'll be fun to go together. Everyone else, I don't know yet.
