i was gonna post in the catcher in the rye thread but i couldnt find it so i guess i have to start a new one.
i have this thing where i read this book every year. i dont know why i just like the story alot. holden is also like the single most relatable character ever for me. its kinda weird, i really like to read but after 20 pages my attention is usually shot so i have to do something else. but this is one of the few books i can just keep reading. kinda funny i should be studying for finals or im likely to fail and yet im reading this book. well im not going to pencey thats for sure.
the hooker part always gets me, how they rip off holden. have to feel sorry abit for him. but the whole story is kinda depressing i guess. still my favorite book though.

I thought the world...Turns out the world thought me
have to disagree, I think the book lives up to it's "hype" (it's not really hype then is it?). love the book, top favorite.

Yeah, I agree... I guess it's one of those books that either really connects with you, or it doesn't at all.
When I finally read it, I just remember being so disappointed after I was done.

no, why? i dont think ive ever seen one of her movies. i dont have much of an opinion on her.
he's also slighty crazy. while he might be kinda phoney, he wasnt doing it to be cool or fit in or whatever reason most had for being phoney, i think he was just trying to cope.
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
so just re-read it i dont think the magic will be lost. i could be wrong though.
Holden reminds me a lot of Willy Loman (Death of a Salesman) in the way that im torn between sympathising and hating his guts. I really like the book: interesting, not classic, but im a big fan.
I read it first around 17 years old, then again when i was like 25. I just love the randomness of it, the strange flow, and the way Holden thinks. It definitely spoke to me more at 17, but I had no exppectations back then.
