I just got a new Gateway laptop with Windows Vista. I had previously been running XP.. Once you get rid of all the crap the pc comes with and change a few configurations and settings, bam!..

Only 45 seconds to completely boot up my laptop into Windows.

Mac O.S. 10.5 is still better, but I'm starting to like Vista.

Enough nerd talk.

Glad you like it and it works out for you. IMO Vista sucks.

From what I'm hearing from my nerdy co-workers, the problem is not Vista, but the hardware designers designing for Vista.. and all the crap PCs come configured with.

I still prefer Mac, but my cheap ass chose a mid-range laptop for $750 versus a low end pricey Mac for $1100.

45 seconds to boot up??!! When it gets to 5 seconds, call me. My next computer will be Linux. All I need is an internet connection and a browser. The rest can be done online.

When my kids got my new computer for me at Christmas, it came with Vista.
I haven't had any problems with it.
And I boot up really quick also..

Maybe not, but it's hard to believe that it should be necessary for a computer to take that long to boot up. What bothers me even more is the amount of time it takes to shut down.

What bothers me more is having slow internet speed. It was really fast in Korea, but here in China it's shit. The message pit has been really slow aswell. It's really frustrating - especially when you're in the middle of a debate with someone, or when - as was the case with my initial post on this thread - I make a typo, or grammatical mistake, and it takes about 4 minutes before I can correct it.

Oh, and It sucks that you can't run Sygate Firewall when using Vista. Window's firewall's shit.

Yeah - I can't stand that. I was the first person in my town to get broadband internet access (7 years ago) and I've never looked back.

I recently started using a MAC with OSX at work. This is the first MAC I've ever used and basically find it has just as many flaws as PCs do. They're just different ones. It looks cooler, but it really doesn't seem to be much better. It does shut down and boot up quicker.

And actually, I find myself less efficient on a MAC.
