    Meh, Valentines Day is overrated. I'll just write my boyfriend a funny note, hide it in his lunch bag, like i do some days, hug him and tell him i love him when we get home from work, like i do every day, cook dinner together, kick his ass at video games or play guitar together, then curl up in each other arms, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world, just thankful that he loves me and we are both healthy and happy.

    monetary cost: nothing
    feeling of being loved: priceless.

    this is my first time ever having a boyfriend for Valentines Day. But it'll be the same as every other year, we made an agreement not to "celebrate" it :)

    Thanks. I was going to be cool. I was going to be strong about this, about being single, but that post was a kick in the guts. I'm fucking jealous. :p

    No no no no no.. this isn't about me or complaining or being depressed. It's about me being strong. I am making fun of all the other sad, depressed people who can't handle being single. Comprende? :D:p

    I love valentines day but unfortunately I spent the last 7 with someone who doesn't like or celebrate it and last year I found out 2 days before 14th that he'd been cheating on me for 2 years.

    Ideally i'd like to celebrate with someone but, to be quite honest, i'd rather be single than with someone like that again. This year for me is kinda more positive even though I might be on my own :)
    Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

    ... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

    Valentine's Day is not a huge deal to me, but it's two days before my birthday...which is also not a really big deal to me. ;)

    It's nice, though, that my husband makes a point of making two separate "special days" out of them. My last BF was always quick to point out that his birthday gifts was also serving as my Valentine's Day gift. That's fine, but it bothered me that he was SO fucking thrilled to be able to do a 2-for-1 deal like that. Does that make sense? As they say, it's the thought that counts, and his only thought was that he got out of buying two gifts for me, lol. He relished any opportunity to be a cheapskate wherever I was concerned, lol. :D

    i don't consider valentine's day *big* at all, never did, but i certainly enjoy it. any ole excuse for something special, even a random tuesday :)...and it's good to me. and people love to say 'oh you shouldn't need a day to show your love' and blah, blah, blah...and you're right, you shouldn't....but it's still fun to have a day dedicated to it. :p people just love to suck the joy out of so much, me...life is short and i like any reason to be happy and share happiness.


    so yea, we go out for a great meal, drinks, exchange cards and who knows what else. ;) and i certainly don't mind a small box of godiva chocolate, just do NOT buy me some ridiculously over-priced bouquet of roses, roses aren't even my fave...and they are insane for the holiday, so do not waste the $$$! that said, all else is game and fun! i've gotten some pretty spectacular gifts some years, no gifts some others, it's all good......but absolutely share a meal and kisses and whatever else and i'm happy.......:)

    last year was my first one with a boyfriend and we didn't really want to "celebrate" it but we kinda felt obligated to hang out together (we watched The Departed at his house). but it was kind of a problem because it was in the middle of the week when both of us (especially me as I was a student at the time) should have been doing work! It was kind of stressful to take a night off at a time when I was swamped...(and for no reason really. we just watched a movie. we could have done that on the weekend).
