I would like to take the time to thank president Bush for those stimulus checks! Seeing that I got mine last week and he just paid for me to see Pearl Jam 7 times this summer!!! Thanks George for a great going away present! I figured with all the bashing of him I think he finally did something right by paying for my tour.

Unfortunately, Democrats in the White House and in control of Congress, means higher taxes, more federal spending, etc.

Believe me, the current crop of Republicans are spend happy, no good, politicians. I just wish Americans had more sense, which would've resulted in a Ron Paul nomination. We're screwed with McCain or either Hillary/Obama.

    Actually...
Democrats rape us by increasing our taxes on the things we pay for.
Republicans rape our kids by making them pay for the things WE get.

I suppose it's better to rape kids to most Republicans... better their asses than mine, I guess.

Federal spending is okay with me when it funds programs for Americans and stays at home..to spend billions of dollars in Iraq when there was no threat with no exit plan is a waste of money. mission accomplished?? my ass..$4.00 a gallon gas..Bush owes us as just an evening out ...taxes that go to home are better than wasted abroad.

Oh, I totally agree that going into Iraq was an incredible mistake, which is costing us in lives and tons of money. I'm not big on social programs, so I'd prefer if tax payers got back as much of their own money as possible.

I can kinda agree with that...not a huge social program kinda guy..but the Iraq situation is ridiculous. Problem is..if you actually believe any of them are going to end the war...you're exactly the type the politicians love.

What does the price of gas have to do with Bush or taxes or spending?

It is all interelated. Taxes that could have been spent at home are diverted overseas to fund the Iraq War, or borrowed, weakening the dollar and causing investors to buy up oil futures instead, which is why it is at $125 a barrel. Many analysts believe there is no shortage of oil. Bush was a go get em first ask questions later kind of guy. At least his father knew better than to go all the way to Bagdad because..then what?? Well we found out the then what over the last five years. Today or tommorow is the 5 year aniversary of Bush standing on the aircraft carrier in flight gear, with the banner "Mission Accomplished". I am a teacher in California, and we have a $15 billion dollar state deficit, and thousands of teachers are being laid off. What we spend in Iraq in one month, could fund teachers for 35 million people who live in California for an entire year. So I am for taxes that provide jobs, roads, disaster relief, schooling for our young, troops for our borders..basically SPEND MY MONEY WISELY like I would. No impulse buying on wars, that sets us back years and years.

Please continue to "swallow[ed] [your] words"...as your words as well as opinion appear to be completely uneducated with zero basis.....? in regards to Social Programs. I'm not trying to demean you. Social Programs are much needed -but are always the FIRST to get cut. (I'm not talking about lazy people whom make an actual "career" out of "Welfare"...which is almost impossible to do these days - for several years now- anyway). I'm talking about all of the other programs that ACTUALLY benefit those in need. You are obviously a "fortunate" person. However - please do NOT dismiss others whom count on these "social" programs (spending) in order to better their own lives - thus - NOT having to depend on others in the future. Please do not "generalize." And I am not trying to be mean. Just posting an opposing point of view for your consideration.

I'm far from being uneducated, so please refrain from the petty insults. When I said I'm not a big fan of social programs, I wasn't referring to vital services which go to those who can't do for themselves. I was referring to wasteful government spending, which happens to initiate from both Republicans and Democrats. My political philosophy isn't a simple one, but fairly complex. You seemed to assume a lot about me from the little I said about social programs earlier today, yet you know nothing about me. You are right, though...I am a fortunate person. I was blessed with a great family, good values, a brain that functions fairly well, and some talent, if I do say so myself. However, I'm successful based solely on my initiative and actions. I truly feel for those who have gotten a bad break in life, and those who can't physically or mentally compete. But, I have absolutely no sympathy or compassion for those who take advantage of the system, and the tax payers.

Again, my views are varied, and I no longer identify with any one political party, because any thinking person would look at the current administration, along with the Democratically controlled Congress, and realize that our politicians are seriously flawed, and we need a new crop of thinkers on both sides.

Although the common factor among us is Pearl Jam and their music. Considering these many differences we will have from time to time...I don't want to make any enemies out of friends.
