Marshall the dog and Jingles the cat have a love/hate relationship. Marshall LOVES her and she HATES him with the fire of a thousand suns. But they found a way to work together to make my daughter feel safe. My 12 y.o. thinks it's funny to call Marshall's name so he wags his tail and smacks Jingles, who in turn wags her tail because she is pissed off. But they both stay put. 
Marshall is resting his head on Dumbo, which I bought for her when I was 5 months pregnant and she has slept with it every night since (just turned 9).

Well hello to the somewhat concerned-looking sweetheart!

I was sick in bed all day today and every time I woke up, there was Marshall cuddled up to me. At bedtime, he dutifully went to sleep with the kids. He is so sensitive and sweet and always knows where he's needed most. 
At his previous home, he was kept in a kennel 12-14 hours a day and never walked or played with. Our neighbor rescued him but he kept going to our door. She couldn't keep him and we weren't in a position to get another dog but we had him over one day. He immediately found the food and water bowls and then laid down on the couch as if he's lived here all along. He belonged with us, without a doubt. One year later he's such a different dog...calm, happy, so sweet and loving. So glad we get to be his forever family.
