    OK, I'm embarrassed to post these pictures but I'm going ahead. I'll spare ya'll the long background story, but Penny's coat had gotten in really bad shape. Like, practically dreadlocks. She's always been completely uncooperative when I groom her but she's OK with anybody else so I've taken her to groomers. The groomer at my vet's was great, but then she retired. So the other groomers there did a terrible job with her. I even complained the second time, because I'd paid extra for them to brush out her undercoat and they didn't. So when somebody else recommended a different groomer I decided to give him a try.

    So I took her over there Friday and we talked about what to do. He showed me how thick the mats were and said that he didn't want to comb them out--it would be painful and stress her a lot. He suggested shaving the areas where she was matted. I decided hey, it's hair, it'll grow back, and told him to go ahead. I guess I pictured him only shaving the areas that were matted, which would have looked pretty ridiculous. So when I went to pick her, I realized EXACTLY what he'd meant.











    Penny's always been camera shy, but she has good reason to be now.

    I still kind of can't believe it.

    She seems perfectly happy though and still prances around like she owns the place. She'll probably enjoy it during the summer, which arrives around April 15 in Texas.

    Wow! At least she's not freaked out by the loss of fur like some dogs can react.

    Yes, she still does her wiggly Penny dance, which always cracks us up.

    They did her like we do Autzen....for the very same reason...well, that and Fleas...doesn't matter that we treat him with flea stuff, he still gets them because of his coat...Fleas are really bad here in Oregon all year round....So we've had to start shaving him down even in the winter when he needs his coat to keep him warm and now we have to buy him sweaters....which drives my hubby nuts....but yes, she still looks adorable and the furs does grow back...oft times quicker than you think! lol

    I know! I'm so embarrassed. Every time I look at her I can't believe I did that to her.

    After reading about Autzen and his sweaters, I got to thinking maybe Penny might be cold. So I got her a shirt today.

    It's soooo hard to get a picture of her because I either have to sneak up on her or take a picture when she's moving. Here she is doing her Penny dance.

    I know she looks pissed in this one but she really was fine wearing it. Really! She danced and later played with Scout. Then she rolled over for a nice tummy rub. :smiley:
