I don't think Scout had ever seen one before. He's practicing his stealth moves.

Piper took a break from her mission of destruction to look at the camera. This dog destroys every toy she gets...

since a certain PUPPY PARENT has let this slip to page 3  , I guess it's up to me to add a not great photo. the funny thing about the photo is that Piper has had a "thing" for the tub ever since she got big enough to hop in...we used to "lose" her and find her in the tub.

We had friends over yesterday with their dog. Their dog likes waves at the ocean. They hoped she'd like the pool, but didn't adore it. Lisa liked her float and she sit on the steps.

But here's a question. Dogs in Starbucks. We discussed this with our friends yesterday. Service dogs yes, other dogs, not so much. Is that just me? There was a man on Saturday with a little little dog with its paws on the table. Yes, sometimes Lisa eats from our plates. But - I don't know, the "oh my dog is a service dog" when they're clearly not makes me a little nuts.

    Or am I overthinking this?

What kind of service dog is she? Of course, shelties can do everything.

I don't think you're overthinking it. Interesting article in the New Yorker last year, I think, about the number of so-called service animals. The writer had her doctor write a vague letter and then she took her pet turtle to a number of locations. All but one accepted her explanation when she showed them the doctor's letter, without questioning how a turtle could be a service animal. I understand that a lot of people are exploiting the idea of a service animal. A local man claimed his 2 pit bulls that he allowed to run loose were his service dogs that were helping him recover from PTSD after serving overseas. He got some sympathy at first, even though he was breaking leash laws and essentially trying to avoid having to fence his yard. I guess some people didn't question why his service dogs were running loose? (And I don't malign pit bulls as a breed, have known some very sweet and friendly ones, but being loose all the time says irresponsible owner to me.) Eventually somebody checked the guy's service record and it turned out he'd never been deployed.

WhoP, can I come to your house and pet those fuzzy ears? Absolutely adorable! Sorry to hear about your headache. Hope you are feeling better.

SD, you'd be more than welcome! He really likes getting those fuzzy ears rubbed.

And thanks! Migraine meds have come light years since I first started having them but every so often I get one that just won't respond. Scout, Penny, and I all did a lot of snoozing today.

    I love, love, love this!

we don't know exactly what the sheltie was trained to do (even though we did, of course, stop and talk to the owner).

my two cents on dogs in public places:

I'm not at all a germophobe, so paws on a table probably wouldn't faze me.

I like seeing well mannered dogs anywhere I go.

I'm jealous that the owners of the little frou-frous take their dogs everywhere. then again, I guess if your dog in a your purse it's not likely to do much damage. :dog:

and, lying about your dog being a service dog is total B.S.
