We don't keep our door closed - that's one of the things, we didn't want her roaming around the house (chasing the 2 cats and we keep the doors open so they can get to their food and litter box), but - duh - she's very happy on the bed. So she doesn't move. But takes up quite a bit of room. (Not as much as some other dogs here.)

Lisa is almost six months, probably 50 pounds. She has her surgery (her "surgery") on Tuesday. Poor thing.

Piper seems to be a roamer. For now, she only has our bedroom and bathroom. She is close to getting the whole house

Now that I've seen what you've been through with Piper the past year, I think I'm going to need some serious emotional support when I get a puppy in a few months. :worried:

This is my older sister's BF's dog Princess. She's a mini Daschound. And she fits on my console perfectly.. She just rides along there, and stares out the windshield.. Kinda sorta.. More like she stares at the dashboard.. But she just rides along like that.. Silliest puppy ever!!

    :lol::lol::lol:

We've gone through this huge discussion about whether to get another puppy or adopt another rescue. So many pros and cons to either option but I think we will go for a puppy.

Penny is a such a sweetie and it's hard for me to believe that she was ever anyone else's dog. But after knowing dozens of shelties, I have to say that she is the most un-sheltie like sheltie I've ever met! She is lots of fun but I so wish I could have gotten her as a puppy. She's very smart but was so difficult to train in obedience. We'd get to class and she thought it was *PLAYTIME!*. "All these other people and dogs to play with me!" Unfortunately, she also has hearing loss, which made training difficult. We're not sure if she was born with limited hearing or it developed later. She was 3-5 years old when we got her about 6 years ago. She has some other traits that I really wish I could undo but for the most part she is a really good dog.

I've talked to the breeder that we bought Django from and she will probably have some puppies available in late spring/early summer. I like her dogs and I like the idea of a puppy from Django's family. She also promised to let me know if she hears about someone who has an older puppy, like 6-12 months.

I am ready for another dog to join the family.

Okay, doggie people. Lisa had her surgery yesterday and we picked her up this morning. Oh I hate that cone of shame - smashing into the walls, your shins, etc. My question. The instructions from the vet say to keep her calm. No long walks, running around, jumping on chairs. Lisa wants to do all those things. It's as if she hasn't had surgery. She's grabbing the tennis ball and wants us to throw it for her to chase. For 10 days we're supposed to keep her calm?

    Help!

    hmmmm....how DID we accomplish that?

first of all, Piper wouldn't "do" the cone of shame, so we put her in a t-shirt and tied up the excess with a hair scrunchy. We gated off the basement so she couldn't go up and down the stairs. She also spent a lot of time on her leash. good luck....she'll be fine.

I just caught Lisa in the back yard with a file folder with our 2014 tax returns - she was tossing it around. Thanks, Lisa!

She's fine. Trying to keep her calm is the hard part. And our shins are black and blue from her crashing that damn cone into us.

Lisa is pissed about the cone.....and has every right to be!

just think....this surgery will mellow her out. Maybe. Or not.

with norm if he wasn't in eyesight (i'm sleeping, left him home alone) he'd get the cone...otherwise i'd leave it off and keep him next to me at all times...whenever he went to lick the wound i'd tell him to stop

as for keeping her calm...let me put it this way...i'm sick and tired of saying 'lie down!' :/ lol

We wanted to keep the cone on for a couple days, until the wound wasn't super oozy. Then we'll take it off - IF we can see where she is. She also chewed up my husband's travel coffee mug today. Trying to get a six month old puppy not to jump - seriously?
