Tomorrow I'm off to the apple store to go get myself a new macbook! I'm so excited. I honestly loathe my current laptop. I should have never settled for a PC just for a slightly lower cost. Mac all the way!

I'm a PC and I love beer
lucky.. i wish i had an apple. my laptop keeps freezing lately because I'm overloading it with too many powerful programs. not to mention that i was almost done with a script i was writing when the hard drive crashed a few months ago. i lost everything. from what i hear apple's never have that problem.
not true...my buddy has had 2 hard drives fail on him on his macbook pro in the last year....not that i'm saying mac's are bad.....i love my mb pro.....to have os x and windows on one computer is great
I had an imac in college and I loved it. My husband had a mac lap top when we met and I used that all the time. Finally it died due to a fatal injury it sustained while landing on the floor :( and breaking it's case. We needed to get a new lap top asap at the time, and we both needed computers so we ended up with PCs so be able to manage the cost of two at a time. Fast forward a year, we totally hate the PC lap tops. Mine freezes CONSTANTLY. It's also a little inferno. Plus the battery life is like 20 mins. My husband just ordered a new imac tonight, and tomorrow I'll pick out my lap top. Yay!
MACs are great but I can't say they outperform PCs in the "drop test."
You can expect similar results with either!

awwww man:( someone needs to invent a non-crashable hard drive.;) i definitely learned my lesson though, and now have 2 external hard drives in which I back up everything that i would be pissed if i lost.
But anyways, good luck with the new Mac, I hear they just came out with new ones.
I am a man, I am advanced.....I am the first man to borrow Stone's leather pants!
They did, they look great and run faster
I'm on a MacBook Pro last gen and i've had nothing bad go wrong
My next desktop is going to be a Mac Pro or iMac
funny thing though, I have Windows still, in a virtual machine though. It's mainly for the pesky websites that still require IE.. lame

Well I kept running Pro Tools off my internal hard drive. I own a Glyph hard drive, but I was just too lazy to bring it with me when I was recording sessions. After a while, Pro Tools will destroy your hard drive... way too much for it too handle. Glyph's on the other hand are made to be recorded on.
Overall support for Windows still exceeds the Mac...it's not even close. If the Mac has something very specific and important that you need which you can't get on a PC, then get the Mac. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
no shit, especially with W2K and XP.
At home, I have; 1 W2K3 server, 3 XP boxes, 1 XP/Vista dual boot, and 2 W2K boxes and have not had a problem with any of them. Even my W2K "test PC" has not needed to be reinstalled in over a year
But yeah... there are two guys in my English and Anthro classes in college who insist on typing EVERYTHING into their Macs. I've never seen them with pen and paper in the three years I've been at college. I don't know why, but it makes me hate them just a little bit. And everyone I've talked to about it feels the same. Beware, Gray.
Slightly lower cost??!!
I use both MAC and PC regularly and I'd be happy to buy a MAC laptop for home, but I don't think they are worth that much extra.
I think my next laptop will be Linux.
