Post your back to school happiness/depression/thoughts:

I'll go..

I'm SO excited that Harrison goes back to school on Wednesday. He's way more in control of himself when he gets home from school (structure) then when he gets home from camp (all out madness). Plus, we can start up tutoring again, and work on more focused projects.

and I am so excited to start school. I feel like I have been out of school forever.. I'm so excited to start getting ready for my career, and to meet new people, and to learn new things. And it doesn't hurt that it cuts working down to 3 days a week!

My daughter will be going to day care three days a week, 8:30-3pm. She likes to play with the other children.
But my wife said 2 year old kids don't nap with a bottle and she still does, it helps her relax I guess, I dont really see a problem with it.

every year in my calendar at home i would write on sept 2, 3, 4, 5 or whenever it was that year : Return to Hell.

i didnt like school and i feel for those going back to high school.

ok, so I am happy that school is starting only because here summer means we stay up til 2 or 3 and sleep til 11 or 12. And it is so fun in like a Pinnochio way (you know that island place??) but I do like a little bit of structure as well.

But I do miss the kids a lot because they are my best friends and the coolest people I know...

And I have started school again and I love it only because I now have another identity in my life that I need pretty bad right now.

Oh, and fall is cool here.

I know!! It used to be right after Labor Day but they wanted to make it more like the college schedules, they say(even thought my son does not start college till Sept. 25th!!) So out at end of May and 3 weeks vaca at Christmas time.

taking some hard classes (AP american- Y I K E S!)
and some sure-to-be-great ones (photography!!)

but school generally isn't that fun for me.
hopefully this year will be different, but i have a feeling it won't be.

scared for: 3 letters. S A T.
excited for: finally being able to drive, for december break (trip to argentina), and summer '09 (yup, already thinking ahead!!)

i'm starting university tomorrow and i'm not sure how i feel about it.
my friend asked me, so how does it feel that you're starting uni? (she goes to the same uni, only i've waited 2 years since high school to start doing anything).

i just replied that i'm sort of impartial. i don't know... i don't really feel excited or scared or happy or sad or anything... is that bad?

maybe it'll take a while to sink in... that i'm actually starting.

and will have no money or time for anything.

thanks, I'm excited since all I hear about is how great chicago is.

I'm going to the university of chicago though, which I hear is in a pretty shitty neighborhood... good thing my roommate has a car, though.

You will be fine, dear. Please trust me.

I have four kids and one is a freshman in college, an another is also a junior. The other two are freshman in h.s. and 6th grade. No matter what you go through, please know that you have many friends here who are all different ages and are more than happy to share with you the knowledge we have. Consider us your parents who can't ground you........(lol??)

And here is a slice of life to chew on for now......

Life is always fun. Even in tears, you can laugh. So, now even at my age, I am enjoying my life. And sweetheart, my life is far from perfect. But it is normally perfect in a weird way, when you define perfection and normalcy on the same light. There are things at this time in your life that are for this time. Take them, enjoy them, make them your own. Never rush life, it will come. Make it your own journey. Your heart is wise and older than your years. All of ours are...........

well, for what it's worth, I started college last year in January after hating school and also being out more years than I would like to think, and I loved it. I didn't pass my class so I am retaking it now but I didn't expect to like it so much.

maybe you will; maybe you won't .......patience.

No, you have all the excellent neighborhoods to check out from there. There is Greektown (I am Greek so I am partial to this), Little Italy, ChinaTown, and it is literally only a short jump away to all of the awesome places to see in the city.
