Has anyone taken CLEP tests?

I need to take 2 courses that didn't carry over from my undergrad studies, and at my orientation last week, they told us they accept CLEP test scores instead of taking the class, if we want.

So, rather then spend thousands of dollars a piece on these classes, I'd love to spend the 70 dollars on the CLEP tests.

Has anyone taken them? How difficult would you rate them as? I'd have to take a Science and a US. history or American Gov. Not my strongest points, but I plan on using study guides and practice tests..

Anyone have any experience with them?

Yes, but it was 1977 and I don't remember anything, but I got enough credits for a whole semester of college.

I haven't taken Science since senior year of high school, and History since Jr year of high school

I'm thinking I'm gonna need some SERIOUS study materials.

How did college leave me so stupid when it comes to major subjects?

If they were your strong subjects you probably won't have any problem if take some refresher courses or review refresher material.

I have taken 8 DANTES/CLEP tests for 38 credits back in '93-'94. Just showed up and passed each one. Mostly in english and math disciplines. Also passed geology and astronomy. I thought they were easy, high school level. I was in the Army, so they were free for me.

My friend took a shitload of them this year, and passed all of them. Just use study guides and practice tests and you'll be fine. ;)
