selling designer items online

Has anyone sold designer items online via craigslist?
I have sold a bunch of things off craigslist, but never high end items. I am listing a bunch of things this weekend, and I was just wondering if anyone has had success using craigslist.
I've never used Ebay to sell, so with the designer stuff, I thought it would be a little hard to start with ebay because people wouldn't know to trust a new account seller with designer labels.

I have found that designer items (although I am not quite sure what items/designers you are selling) do sell well on ebay. As long as they are authentic, and you make a very BIG personal guarantee in your listing, people who love the brand will buy it. You can also say in your listing that you have just begun selling on EBAY. Most people who do buy on ebay don't base their buying decisions on how many items the seller has sold--they know that each seller has to start somewhere.
Hope this helps,

Great thanks for the advice. I listed the items on Craigslist tonight, but if I don't get any response, I am going to look into Ebay. I'm selling coach purses, a par of prada shoes, ferragamo shoes, and manolo blahniks. I'm hoping they catch people's eye.
went pretty well
and we're thrilled to have it out of the house!
i've sold stuff on ebay for many years and i've done alright.
people are especially interested around the holidays... a little looser with their money, i guess.
anyway, good luck and if you ever need any ebay help, let me know

This is going better then I thought. I'm pleased. Craigslist pulls through for me, for the millionth time.
This was around '03, so I'm not sure if craigslist was popular yet. I myself don't know much about that site though.
kinda kicking myself in the foot now because it would have been great to know a thing or two about their online business.
Good luck with your business Gray.

I sold my Truck on Craigslist in 3 hours and the guy didn't even haggle with me. Easiest experience ever.
Not sure about craigslist (although it seems to be working for you cause you've already sold something ), but I have a friend who tried to sell a bunch of stuff on eBay without success (and I'm talking brand new, never worn Christian Louboutin shoes etc). I just think it's really random... there's so much stuff up there, I think it's partly luck. She was quite shocked cause her husband sells old retro t-shirts and clothing and always has success, but her designer stuff was harder to shift.
