i HATE ballys total fitness more then words

I just had to lose my mind on some moron at Bally's customer service line. I swear I didn't sign up for a contract so I could get out of it someday, but they will NEVER EVER let you anyways! I pay month to month, and they told me I had to cancel it before they took my next payment out. It comes out the 28th of the month. So they tell me they took it out already... Its the 27th! and then they tell me they are charging a 25 dollar fee to cancel it. But she says I can't cancel it because they took my payment to which I got all pissed because I can never get out of this... So needless to say I lost my mind, and flipped out. I SERIOUSLY hate crappy chain places with useless customer service. And now I owe 80 dollars to cancel.

Not to mention Ballys is the NASTIEST gym ever.. worst machines, no classes at decent times, and its filthy...

I hated the bally's I used to go to when I first started, but after a while I loved it. Everyone around here only goes to the ballys when they're broke, and everyone's always worshipping the healthworks...but lol, I hated healthworks, it was too into appearances rather than hardcore workouts.

sucks that you had this cancelation problem though. I remember I canceled there with no problems.

try to avoid signing up at chain gyms. if there is is anything closer that is locally owned and has a good rep, sign up there. chances are its cheaper, cleaner, and theyw ont screw with your money.

they lured me in to a lifetime membership when i was younger it is and was a ripoff!!!cost me a couple thousand and i still pay something a month after i paid for a so called lifetime membership.

We did sign up for a new gym.. its being built and will open the end of march.. Its MUCH better. It has all the gym perks: tvs on the machines, spa, pool, hot tub, sauna, extensive class schedule, salon, and its all brand new.. I'm looking forward to it. Done with Ballys!

I don't mind Ballys. I wish the place was less busy, but that is all.
Oh also this trainer talked to me for 20 minutes one day trying to get me to have him train me. That was annoying but only happened once so it's ok :P

I only use free weights and the few machines that I use are fine. They just recently got a bunch of new machines which are really nice, but i still dont use them hah!

Oh and I really like all the hot ladies at Ballys. Now that I think about it, it's probably the reason that I like Ballys hahahah.

I am a trainer at Snap Fitness, anybody ever seen one those around you? I am just curious how big they are outside our area.

You mean the 24 hour place? I go to one here in San Antonio. I like it. It's basically a glorified apt gym center thingie. Four TV's, four treadmills, a few elpticals and bikes and limited free weights. I've enver had to wait for a machine or bench. But in five months, for 25 bucks a month and no starter fees, I'll take it. I could use a hot tub, or sauna, or pool; but for the money, it's good. Plus, 24 hr access is nice.

But I did write them a nice, sarcastic letter today because they don' have ESPN in their satellite package. Fucking annoying! You'd think they'd have it in a place with "fitness" in its name. Not that I could convince any of those housewives from keeping it on American Idol or the Lifetime network.

I just got back, sorry I'm worked up.

That sucks, we have plenty of channels at ours. Our club might be alittle bit bigger than yours but it still isnt very large. I could do without the pool and all that other nonsense, I only lift and do cardio.

They all suck I'm glad my office has a nice gym Though we do get a free membership at Gold's.

I was at a bally's for a while. It was always too crowded and a pain in the ass to get on a treadmill.

I actually had an amazing trainer for several months at ballys. he was great. (and cute to boot).

But I did have an experience like your's when a trainer approached me and said he'd give me a free session the next day. It was right before I was moving for grad school and I literally had like $0. I said to him flat out: "ok, I'll take the free session tomorrow, but I'm telling you right now, I cannot afford a trainer and I'm moving soon so don't expect me to buy anymore sessions." lol, the guy seemed pretty shocked that I got his plan right away...but what could he do, he had already offered me the free the session, so I got that anyway .

NY Sports Club did the same thing to me. very annoying.

I love Bally's but I tend to workout at lunch when it is empty. Come 5 pm it's way too crowded. Bought a lifetime membership about 8 years ago...paid $40 a month for 3 years, and the last 5 years I've been paying $10 a month. That's a great deal.

I hated them after they sent me a $3,000 bill for canceling a contract I never signed or ever entered in to. Took them 6 months to straighten it out.
