Does anyone here have a part time job, that they took for fun?

I'm looking into a weekend job that is something I would really enjoy, thus making less work, and more like something to do, while banking some extra cash..

How is it working out for you? Do you still like it after its considered a job?

I don't have one (actually not allowed to with my full time job) but I heard recently that someone i know is dealing blackjack at a local casino for a summer job. Now that sounds like fun!

That would be awesome. I always joke that I am going to run away and be a roulette dealer. I don't really live close enough to a casino to work at one, but I'd love to!
  • I worked at an ice rink last christmas just for fun!! :D
  • I work part time at an outdoor sports retailer; I do it just for gas, beer, and car insurance money during school as I have a much better job in the summer. It's a pretty good gig overall; I get amazing discounts on ski, bike, and camping gear which is the only real reason I put up with peoples' bull shit there. My biggest complaint would be the management since they are career retailers and have that better than thou attitude. It is just annoying to have someone treat you like an idiot when you know better.

I'd take the job if it seems like the people you would work for know you are just there for fun.
  • you could work at a high end childrens clothing store.

Depends on what you are looking for. I think the best job for a social atmosphere will always be waiter/waitress or bartender. But, the place has to be cool.

    Other than that,

I've lifeguarded and taught... both were awesome.

I've worked in a video store, which was great fun, but it all depends on the store and the people I worked with were awesome.

Now, I'm working in a hair salon, as a stop gap measure so I can continue paying rent! I wash hair, sweep, take appointments etc and it's great fun, the boss is fantastic, I get my hair done for free... the tips are good too ;) I'd never worked in a salon before, I just heard about it through the grapevine and it's so close to home, which is even better :)
