Cross your fingers for me!

Okay, so last week I posted about the drama between the family I work for and such.

(I'm their nanny, they are listing their house and trying to move away to the suburbs, where I wouldn't be their nanny anymore)

So, I evaluated my situation, my goals, my hopes, etc.. and revisited the fact that its been a dream of mine to work for a Nanny agency as a Nanny/Family coordinator. There is a well known Agency, that is well respected here in Chicago, and I bit the bullet and contacted them out of the blue to send them my resume, and basically put myself out there as wanting to seek employment with them. So I wrote this all yesterday night...

and.....

Tonight, the founder emails me back that she wanted to meet with me about a position with her company!


So, send some crossed fingers, good vibes my way and hopefully I will totally impress her at the interview.


PS... This goes to show all of you that may be on the fence with putting yourself out there.. JUST DO IT! you never know, you could totally impress someone with a "go getter" attitude!

    Weren't you working on a teaching credential? I'm assuming this nanny thing is just to put you through school. There's no way you can be thinking about making it into some sort of career. If anything, with your looks, you should consider porn to at least pay your way through school. PM me if you need someone to shoot a portfolio for you.

    um, first off, yes I start graduate school in september for my masters of elem ed. to be a teacher. That will take 2.5-3 years to complete since its a part time night program.

    Second, I enjoy working with children and I have a wide varity of experience from childcare roles to customer service to managerial experience. I see nothing wrong with setting a goal for myself to work in a field I like but turn it into a more official office position. I could do it for 3 years I could do it for 1 but why couldnt I?

    I think your post is a little insulting.

    Anyway, Gray, I wish you the best. Maybe then when I move up there you can buy me a beer or two as I go through the job search process...which will be occuring sooner rather than later. :D

    You want to turn being a nanny into a more official position? Why try to make the job sound like something it's not? If you really felt that good about it, you wouldn't need to exagerrate.

    Forgive if I don't like to see people sell themselves short. Sometimes a person has to deviate from the usual social graces in order to really make a difference in another person's life. You, on the other hand, can go through life knowing that you are well liked, but whether or not you will really have a positive impact on anything other than your own self-image will be at question.
