My husband was just reading an article and telling me about it, where there is a new trend of brides asking their bridesmaids to get "work done" before the wedding.

Brides are asking their parties to get botox, lazer treatments.. and one bride went to far to ask her bridemaids to all get boob jobs! She found a doctor that would do 4 for the price of 2, and she said since her bridesmaids didn't have a lot of cleavage, it would look better for the photos and the wedding...

CAN YOU IMAGINE??? Oh man..

I knew a girl who had 5 bridesmaids.....and asked them all to buy their own dresses, which she of course, picked out....

    Jaysus...

wtf is wrong with people??? More focus on a wedding than a commitment to another person for life. That is pretty shallow and superficial. We all need help.

Yeah, the same woman declared her wedding day 'completely ruined' because the trimmings on the cake and the balloons were a shade lighter than the flowers in the bouquet

    Ah well...

Well no one else I know has done it. If she'd had the one or two bridesmaids she could afford, neither would she.

I think it's probably one of those things that varies by culture. In the US it's usually customary for the bridal party and groomsmen to pay for their own dresses/tuxes...but sounds like that's not the case where you are....so she sounds like a bridezilla for sure. I think sometimes people lose sight of the fact that it's really just a party - nothing to lose your head over. I really can't understand wanting your friends to alter their appearance just so they'll look good in some pics??? WTF??? Sadly I've seen some friendships fall apart all cause of wedding drama (not to this extreme). Ridiculous really

    eh..that's ridiculous.
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

I've been in a few weddings, and I've always had to buy the dress myself. same with the weddings my friends have been in, we were discussing it last night, actually (because one of our friends just got engaged and we're hoping she just has family in the wedding because they're wealthy people with expensive tastes and we don't want to pay for a dress they would pick out!). I've NEVER heard of the bride buying the dresses for everyone. I've heard of the bride buying one for a bridesmaid who really couldn't afford it-my cousin bought one for one of her bridesmaids who was really bad off financially because she wanted her to be in the wedding. Other than that, it's usually the bridesmaids' responsibility to buy the dress. the last wedding I was in, it was about a $300 dress and $50 shoes (yes, we all had to have the same shoes!!) That's why it sucks to be a bridesmaid, you have to spend all this money on a bridesmaid dress. I've even heard of brides making bridesmaids get their hair done the same way and they have to pay for that as well.

well when i get married i'm only going to buy my dress and head to the beach and hire a preacher to marry us at sunset. whatever family that wants to head out with me will be there. i'll have a reception with a cake later when i get back home. i'm simple and don't want to deal with all the stupid details.

lol :D That made me laugh, and I wholeheartedly agree.

If someone told me that I needed to get cosmetic surgery in order to be in their wedding, I can't imagine we'd be friends for much longer. ;)

I like the "big party" aspect of weddings, but not the details. seriously as long as you have music, booze, and food, whatelse do you need? Honestly I would LOVE to have a "wedding" that's not an actual wedding. why do you have to get married in order to have a huge party with everyone you know? I don't want to get married, but it does make me a little sad that I'll never have "the big party" because I think anyone who came to my "big party" would say it was the best "big party" they every went to.

I had a tiny wedding with only immediate family, so we totally missed out on the big party aspect of it. But, I'd still love to have a big ridiculous party some day, just for the hell of it. I think if I try hard enough, I'll be able to come up with a reason. :D
