Okay so my boss is frantically trying to find a replacement nanny for me. I gave her 5 weeks notice, but she didn't start to look for someone until the end of last week, and I am done on Friday of this week.

So needless to say she is freaking out, she interviewed two girls that didn't work out. She set up an interview for April 25th with a girl who lives out of state and she is moving up here. But she called me tonight to tell me that she offered the girl the position, before she interviewed/met her, and she gave the girl my number to call me and use me to make her choice..

OKAY.. hold up, who in their right mind would hire someone they have NEVER met or interviewed to have them work in their home? And why would you leave it up to your nanny who quit to give the one and only reference on you? What if this girl is crazy, or not good with kids, or lied about her experience? Ahhh!!!

The girl never called me either. I really think its weird, and dangerous of my boss to do this.

Wow... she sounds really messed up from all the things you have said about her. I would never do that. I actually ended up choosing a daycare for my son as opposed to a nanny because I didn't feel like I could trust one individual enough...

I hope everything turns out fine for the sake of the kids, but she sure is reckless.

She has been trying to make me feel guilty for so long now, but I mean 5 weeks is a ton of time, she could have started right away.

I just keep telling myself that I have to look out for me, but I can't help but feel badly. I don't want her to go through a bunch of nannies all the time because she blindly picks them. She'll blame that on me for starting this whole thing.. but she started it, she said she was moving! Argh!

would i treat my children like pets? no

this woman needs to get her head out of her ass.....she's hiring someone to care for her children.....if it were me i'd hire ex fbi to vet my nanny....and none of this should be your responsibility.....you seem to care more for her kids than she does!

HELL NO I wouldn't do this!

That sounds like REALLY poor judgment to me.

Admittedly, I tend to skew in the direction of overprotective...but I would NEVER hire someone to watch my kid (OR a pet, for that matter!) without spending a good amount of time with them.

    Wow!!

Wow...just wow. How do you fuck around for 5 weeks and not interview someone for that job? Either that mother doesn't really care about her kids' safety or she's just way too far out of the loop of common sense and shouldn't be solely responsible for finding someone to fill the job.

Well, it's good you are aware she is so slimey and selfish. She wasn't even going to tell you they were moving, was she? Run, girl, run :)

well she told me today my last day will be Thursday because she is flying this girl to Chicago just for Friday and then sending her home. She doesnt want me there because she said it would be too much pressure on the other girl to act nicely in front of me.

Uh okay then. Atleast I can sleep in on Friday.

Girl, please. 5 weeks is way more than enough time. Don't let her guilt you into anything. You gave your notice.

exactly... and you've done well enough to stay on good terms with her... so if possible try and avoid being over friendly or personal until you're finished. Keep your distance til you're outta there in other words :o
