Help identifying obscure 80's movie!

ok this is tough one, I apologize for the lack of detail but maybe it will trigger a memory with someone somewhere. I'm pretty sure this was a movie, as opposed to a tv show in the early to mid 80's. it could be characterized as a children's/fantasy type movie, but what i remember is the person, i think it was a girl had the ability to go through a mirror and wind up in another dimension/planet/parallel universe?? there might have been some sort of furry creatures involved, muppet type things, but not muppets.
i hate this crap, i saw something before that made this slight memory come back of this movie i remember from over 20 years ago and i have absolutely nothing to go on! help!

    the only other thing i can think of is the Gilliam movie "Adventures of Baron Munchausen". one of the best movies ever.

    had two cats named after that movie, Darkie(he was black) and Crystal(she has silver slivers on her coat). Can't remember the film at all, but thanks for the memories, though, Crystal was mangled up by a car so you've got me re-living trauma here!

    Saw Labyrinth at the cinema, thought it a wicked movie.

    DeLukin thanks again for coming up with the movie. I don't know how you knew it! I've been researching it since yesterday and those few details I gave definitely were the ones in the movie. It was so cheesy though! thats the 80's for ya i guess. but i found a post on imdb started by someone who had the same problem as me, and found out the name of the movie after 20 years! he had these fragments of images from this obscure movie in his mind for years, and finally he found out the name. this is like a support group haha.
    for me, like i said it was the girl going through the mirror, and after reading about the movie the image of the berries in the glass stands out. knowing me i'm gonna shell out $20 for a shitty copy...
