I think that's weird..i could see an infant but I met someone who's mother would walk around half naked in front of him and his siblings...and they were adults...that is perverted imo.

I am naked in front of my 3 girls quite often. They are 3, 5 & 11. Hubby does not get naked in front of them. I don't think it's a big deal, maybe because we are all female.
My mother never was naked in front of me and I've always been nervous/uncomfortable to be seen naked, so I think this will help my children to feel more comfortable with their bodies.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.
  • I think it depends on the culture you grow up in - I know in some parts of Scandinavia, nudity isn't taboo at all. Even kids' TV shows feature it.

well yeah that isn't that big of a deal...I think the opposite sex is a bit perverted. The person i was referring to was a guy and it was his mother, but that's my opinion..i guess it depends how you are raised.

It all depends on what you're comfortable with. I would never walk round the house naked in front of my 12 and 15 year old. That would be weird. Mainly because I've never done it I suppose. The little ones are always walking into my room when I'm changing though. At 3 and 5 I can't see the harm in it, although I don't make a habit of being naked in front of them.

I would always cover up if I had house guests or visitors though. My brother visited once fairly late in the evening and I was in my PJ's. I went to get dressed at once. It shows a bit of respect imo.

Oh, I don't think there's any doubt that it's completely taboo in America. I'm gonna throw out the words "Superbowl", "nipple" and "complete meltdown of society", and let everybody piece it together. :p

So, now I'm supposed to deal with the infamous super bowl nudity horror and the pit member reunion ferris wheel tragedy all in one day?

Oh, yeah! I'm fully clothed if anybody comes over.
I don't hang out naked, but I will go in the pool w/o a bathing suit.
When I say I'm naked in front of my kids often, I mean that I'm in no rush to get dressed. I take my time after a shower... I don't mean we sit down to movie night with candy and popcorn and I'm in the nude!

I agree... As a boy, I remember being little and getting dressed after swimming or whatever with my dad and it wasn't a big deal. But I have never (thankfully :) ) seen my mother naked lol...

My wife and I were talking about that the other day... We have a 6 month old son so no big deal yet, but we were just talking about how old is too old for him to see her.

exactly. culture makes a HUGE difference.

i think that's extremely healthy. i have never seen my mother nude, even in underwear...she always covered up. while i don't have body issues, i do think for a long time it made me uncomfortable growing up and it most definitely makes me uncomfortable when in the presence of relative strangers, such as in a communal dressing room, etc. i think it's important to be comfortable with yourself, in the presence of others, not feel judged nor unnatural....and yes....that it's not a big deal. i think you are wise with how you are raising your girls. :)

See, that makes no sense to me... he's your brother, not some stranger.

He's my little brother. I left home when he was quite young. And my PJ's were....ahem.... well...they left little to the imagination :o

It's just not respectful to sit round next to naked y'know?....And you have to consider the other persons feelings.

I was just thinking about this topic this morning getting dressed in front of my 2 year old daughter. I was wondering at what age that it becomes weird. I think soon. Everytime I come out of the shower and she is in my room she points at IT and stares. lol very weird. Time to change the situation.
For boys though its fine. Men are men. Big deal.

LOL the other day I was peeing, standing up of course and she tried to stick her head between my legs from behind to have a look at what was going on. OMG!!!! I had to yell at her for her to get away. Hahahaha

well yeah it depends on the jammies...some of my summer ones I wouldn't feel comfortable being in around people.

If she's only 2 then I wouldn't panic yet. She's just showing a bit of healthy curiosity, thats all. I bet you feel far more uncomfortable with the situation than she does.

lol! My daughter always points and laughs and says "boobies!" when she sees me naked. :D

The other day she saw me getting dressed and she said "ooh, good job puttin' on big girl underpants, mama!" lol :D She was proud of me.

However, my husband has not let her see him naked since she was about 6 months old. He is horrified by the thought...lol.

I grew up in Wales and in the UK nudity is viewed very differently from in the US. My parents always walked around naked in the morning from the bedroom to the bathroom etc, and they both slept naked. I never really though anything of it.

I always did the same when I had my own child and never really thought about it either. I always sleep naked also. Once she became a teenager though, and my new guy moved in with us, I stopped doing it because he felt a little weird about it - he did not grow up the same way. I still will walk around in my undies and bra, but not totally naked anymore.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it.

I can respect that. But if someone is uncomfortable with it..that should be respected. It was cool of you to respect his feelings.

Yeah, thats me. I'm in my underware right now and the kids are right here. I often answer the door in my underware. If someone comes in, I'll put some shorts on.

I think it is important for a child to see there parents naked, for the first couple of years it helps for them to identify with and allthough they come out with some awkward stuff(had a similar experience with my son at about the same age accoustic guy):) it's funny, my son would often have moments saying what sex everyone in his family was he would go through me and his mam then onto his brother and sister getting them all right then he would say "and nana's a man aswell", hehe used to crack me up.:D
