The Old Fashioned Pen Written Letter

Does anyone here still write letters? I do..but rarely do ever get one. Email and texting just doesn't have the same feeling as sitting down with some nice stationary and a kick ass pen and letting the words flow....

Even if you don't send the letter it's a great thing. I feel like writing a letter right now to someone but I know it will be like War and Peace sized.

A big letter is brewing in me.

I really love writing. In fact, I have cute stationary that I write to my older relatives with. I feel like sending an email is not very personal...I don't know. No one writes many letters anymore though... I only buy stamps during the Holiday season for all my Christmas cards!!!!! :)

I'm working on one right now and taking my sweet time about it too! The poor recipient has been waiting weeks for me to spit it out! :D

I still write letters to folk, albeit sporadically, but I love going to the paperie here and buying beautiful note paper, cards, and envelopes. It's one of my favorite places to visit and I love getting pretty pens to write with too.

I received two handwritten notes in my letterbox yesterday. :) It was such a buzz! :)

I don't often write letters, but when I do I put everything into it. I often send notecards though, I love writing to someone just for the hell of it.

Theres nothing like getting a handwritten letter, note or card through your letterbox. It makes you feel as if someone has gone to the trouble for you :)

I receive hand written letters from my friend in Wales, but I usually type her letter and send back in the post (cos I can type way quicker than I can write :o and she doesn't have email)

I can spend hours choosing cards and stationary... It's important to get it right y'know?

I have a stash of pretty paper and notecards... I really should use em and write more letters...

    Me too! :)

I'm really cross because I bought this beautiful notepaper with frangipani on it (from the paperie in that link I posted earlier. The place is like a candy land for notepaper :) ) and I spent ages picking out envelopes with tonal colours to go with it and now I can't find the damn envelopes!!

I want to use the notepaper for this current letter I'm working on and I really don't want to just use an ordinary envelope.

Yeah getting the mail and seeing you have a letter is nice too. I will check out that website.

I don't even sent out too many xmas cards anymore. I was finding that I sent more out then received. People are lazy with them too. I know postage keeps going up, but cmon?

I often write letters and then leave them lying around for so long that they're now meaningless... or if you're sending to someone who IS online, I've usually filled them in on everything in the letter ten times over before they'd get it :(

I've written a few letters to Heatherj43 though and I think it's about time I send one :o I'm sooooo BAD!

I wrote a long one a little while back but never sent it. Sometimes it's just the physical act of getting the words down that is like a catharsis.

or oddly enough, wondering what to say... even though I've no problem here, it takes me a while to get going when I'm writing a letter... no matter who it's to.

Oh and I write notes/letters to my aunt but that's because she is handicapped and doesn't really use the phone and never the internet. She enjoys getting little cards from me from time to time in the post and sometimes if I'm really lucky someone helps her sign one and send it to me. :)

I used to write to my grandmother quite a lot but she's gone now. So not so much writing anymore. Sporadically if I find things or little gifts to send to people I write a note to accompany it. Not so much the long letters anymore.

Save a tree, write an email.

But seriously I would much rather receive a letter then an email. Like everyone said it's just a lot more personable.

:) I've always wondered about that though. I mean how much greenhouse gas does one generate with an email? How much fossil fuel burned to power up the puter? Be interesting to know, you know if you used recycled paper to post, how much energy and resources are expended with a traditional letter vs how much energy and resources expended to send an email. There must be a number cruncher somewhere that's worked it out? :p:D

I think snail mail is much more personable too. :)

    LOVE EM!

i definitely do not write them as often as i used to...and i used to write a LOT! one of my very best friends - she was my maid of honor when i married - lives in helsinki and we used to write letters back and forth since i first left college in london. definitely have slowed considerably, but as she has a 'big' birthday fast approaching, i really want to get a letter in the mail!

one of the BEST things of living abroad - before the internet/email explosion - was hand-written letters. i have em ALL. so special! i love it even if my husband just writes a line or two in a card :o.....hahaha.

i've had some good letter exchanges with both my parents, and now that my father is long gone...i am so happy to still have letters from him. me and my mother live close, but every once in a while we get a letter exchange...it's good.

i've also written many letters to my husband over the years, to express things that i could never do well aloud and vice versa....it's such a good thing.

i hope i always write and receive letters...they are precious. :)
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow
