I am currently in the mood to get rid of stuff. I've been clearing out the attic, the closets, the drawers...

Sometimes it's hard to part with old things for odd sentimental reasons but I love the space that's left when I do!! :)

Does anyone else go through phases like this?

  • I never have the drive to get rid of old stuff. It just seems like too much effort. But it's cool that you're doing it.

Don't you start to run out of space though?

Yep, usually when we are doing a move. It seems easier when you have to pack or unpack stuff. But I think that you are probably in a 'spring cleaning' phase. It's amazing how this time of year makes you want to clean out cluttered spaces. Hope you have fun.

    Cheers!

I'm currently getting rid of about 2/3 of my clothes and I have to say, it feels really good! I have WAY too much stuff, and I just don't need it all. It's a learning experience. :)

    It is!!!

There were old dresses I kept for a long time... thinking I'd wear when I got back to my old size (which I have) but when I tried them on I realized I never wanted to wear them... EVER again. :D:p

yeah, i throw shit away when i move, but even that is hard for me. everything seems to have a story behind it with me. its cool in ways, but sucks in other ways.
    Peace, Love.

I do that every couple of years. Get into a cleaning up and out mode. It feels good to go through stuff you haven't used and donate it. Sometimes I feel like I'm just doing it to make room for more PJ stuff though. lol :)

It took me a while to get used to it, but now I love getting rid of crap I don't use. What's the point of keeping it around? I've also learned to be more careful when buying things. I just think, will I be throwing this away in a couple months?
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

    LOVE it!
do it periodically. back in the summer of 2005 i did a MAJOR sweep thru of the entire house...garage...basement....garden shed, nothing left unturned. cathartic doesn't even begind to touch it.

it's not the world that's heavy, it's the things that you save. i still have lots of *stuff*...but either meaningful, useful, beautiful....and of course, well-organized. ;)

A major sweep of the house is what I'm feeling these days...once the upstairs is clear, no closet, cabinet, garage, or basement is safe for clutter!! :D

Every six months I go through everything and donate the clothes to the Lupus Foundation, furniture-books-electronics to the Salvation Army of things I no longer use or need.

Then six months later I find these new things that have replaced the old and the cycle repeats itself.

We have a tiny house, so we do this at least once or twice a year. Having two kids makes it especially important! It feels great.
