I knew it was only a matter of time until our cheap a$$ Rockies traded Holliday away for next to nothing. Congrats to all A's Fans as you're getting one heck of a slugger! At least he didn't end-up in Boston, NY, or LA.

  • This makes no sense to me... since when has Oakland been in the market for a big name? The A's are like the Rockies of the AL. There's no way they sign to a long-tern deal if history tells us anything becasue you know Boras is going to demand a ridiculous deal.

It's Billy Beane's mantra. Trade for a person soon to be a free agent. Then if they contend all year, you get value for one year and 2 first round picks. If you trade him mid year to a contender you get back the prospects you traded to get him and more because teams get desperate around the trade deadline.

That is at least a plan. With the Rox, it's all about not spending $$$. Plus, your theory makes sense since Oakland is no BIGGER of a market than Denver. Sounds like Holliday may still find his way to the AL East eventually...

Wow. I was in Colorado for a couple days so I decided to go to a Rockies game. They were playing the Dodgers and were losing 11-0. Then #5 comes up and hits a homerun to that waterfall area of the stadium(beautiful stadium by the way.) Wow, good luck, Rockies.

    Hell yeah!! Finally some offense!

Although I've learned over the years not to get too excited about anybody that Beane brings in. Like Solat13 said.. if we're not in contention as the trade deadline nears, I'm sure Beane will unload him for a bunch of young, no-name prospects.

If only they could keep around their good players like they did in the late 80's. We would have an amazing team!! Giambi, Tejada, Dye, Hudson, Mulder, Zito (he'd still be good if he was an A;)), etc..
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
  • We (the Cards) shoulda traded Luddy and Schu to get him...
  • I'm shocked. If I made a list ranking the teams I thought Holliday would be traded to, oakland would be somewhere in the mid 20's
  • rockies fans are fair-weather anyways...

matt holiday deserves to be somewhere better.

i'd be hard pressed to think oakland is any better

good point...he should come to boston.
  • By the way, the ways won't even be in Oakland much longer.

I believe they're moving to Fremont in, what, 2010?

It really doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess the A's need to fill some seats. Their team really hasn't had many big names recently. Good for them.

Probably NY, I doubt Boston would move or bench Bay.
