CLEVELAND, Texas -- An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday for four children who were taken at gunpoint, police told KPRC Local 2.
Cleveland police said Ramiro Contreras, 24, went to his children's maternal grandparents' home with a gun at about 5 a.m.
Shots were fired and the grandfather ran to a neighbor's home to call 911, investigators said.
When officers arrived, Contreras, his four children and the mother of the children, Amy, were gone.
An Amber Alert was issued for:
• Isabel, 1
• Abigail, 2
• Ray Alexander, 3
• Helena, age unknown

Contreras may be driving a 2002 four-door maroon Pontiac Grand Am with Texas license plate No. FXV 969 or a four-door burgundy Oldsmobile Alero with Texas license plate No. FFS 944.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Three people were found shot, one fatally, at a Liberty County house where a woman and her four young children were believed abducted by her estranged husband, investigators said today.

The victims were airlifted this morning to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Their names were not released but they were identified as the mother, sister and brother of the 22-year-old abducted mother, Amy Contreras.

Contreras had been staying at her parents' Cleveland home with her children--7-month-old Helena, 1-year-old Isabel, 2-year-old Abigail, and 3-year-old Ray Alexander. Neither she nor her four children have been seen since they vanished with her husband, Ramiro, 24, who was brandishing a gun, according to Contreras' father who ran to a neighbor's house to call 911.

Ramiro Contreras is believed to be driving his wife's 1999 silver Ford Escort with temporary tags, bearing the number 1020.

Cleveland police have issued an Amber Alert which remains in effect and are in the process of releasing photos of the missing family.

Shots were reported fired after Ramiro Contreras busted into the family's home about 5 a.m. today.

Anyone with information about Contreras or the missing mother and children should call 911 or Cleveland police at 281-592-2621.

A woman and her four children were found unharmed Tuesday after being abducted by her estranged husband, who is believed to have shot three of the woman's other relatives — one fatally — in Liberty County, investigators said.

An Amber Alert was canceled Tuesday afternoon after Cleveland police reported the 22-year-old woman, Amy Contreras, and her four children — 7-month-old Helena, 1-year-old Isabel, 2-year-old Abigail and 3-year-old Ray Alexander — had been recovered from an undisclosed location.

Her estranged husband, Ramiro Contreras, 24, remains at large and is being sought for questioning, investigators said.
