I fucking *HATE* them. I've been on the phone with Delta for 20 minutes. I am now talking to the third person. I have been put on hold at least a dozen times. FUCK. I'm pissed. And to make it even more difficult they have such thick accents there's a communication barrier. So much for "customer service".

The music is fabulous. Your standard elevator music fare. It's rather soothing.

Not that anyone cares, but I was on the phone for 51 minutes and 57 seconds. And I have to TRUST that they made a note in my account. They can't send me written confirmation. FUCKERS.

Just keep hitting operator key..what sucks is that you can't even slam the phone down anymore, because most of them are cell or cordless :D

Oh, I got through to actual people...but they were stupid people...who made me repeat the information each time...and I'm willing to bet that this call center was located in India (not that there's anything wrong with that) due to the accents. I'm just saying...I could barely understand each person I talked to.

Yep, verizon killed me on the phone a year and a half ago. It took 4 days and about 8 hours on the phone for them to be able to matriculate my msn dial-up account to verizon internet.

Verizon, quite possibly, might be the dumbest company on the planet. I've had FIOS for over a year, having to fight tooth and nail to get the lines laid in our industrial park at work, and every time I call with problems with the copper phone lines they want to sell me FIOS.

    Fucking morons.

Nah, I work for Verizon and there are actually quite a few of us here who are pretty smart. :) I'm not sure I understand your question, though. Are you saying Verizon laid the fiber in your industrial park and now you're trying to get your office connected? Considering it's an $18 billion venture, I don't think they are trying to fight you on signing up; they would like as many people as possible. However, with all of the franchise approvals required, involving millions of homes/offices, it's a pretty time-consuming process. It's going to take some time to roll it out to the consumer.

If you are saying you DO have FIOS, then why do you even still have copper lines? If you're on FIOS, everything should be running on fiber and copper lines would be a non-issue.

I don't think people in general tend to enjoy call center experience...seems pretty unanimous across the board.

And Joe, it was a year ago, get over it. :) I thought you were done venting the frustrations after the blog about the matter.

Can you transfer up to Mass and handle my business account? I know all people aren't stupid at Verizon, I've talked with some very nice people. I'm just in the mist of doing battle with them as we speak.

As far as FIOS, we do have it, but I was told that they weren't able to get all 12 lines on to the FIOS line for a certain deal I wanted. I got really confused and said what ever. We also had a reverse DNS issue once we switched to FIOS that took a week to fix.

Lol, I am. But the thread brought back memories. ;)

I do have to say Verizon customer service for small business is on the ball though. I made a call this morning about our fax line being out in my office and a couple hours later Verizon was out here taking care of it.

Heck no, I'd never want to work in a call center. :D

I understand your pain, though, and the learning curve with FIOS installations is big. Once it's a little more established it'll be great but getting there is tough. If it makes you feel any better I've had Comcast out to my place three times because of my internet cutting out and finally they basically told me it's something I have to live with.

I'm a PM in wholesale I.T.... about as far removed from the call centers as you can get. But if you're still having trouble, we do have a referral system that I can try out for you. Not sure it'll get you results any quicker, but if you want to PM me your info I can try it.

  • Personally, I think Delta is one of the worst ones. After a series of flight changes that they initiated, they moved my 8 year old daughter into another row to accommodate a complete stranger. What bothered me so much is that the row was 3 people, my husband, myself and her. They moved her to put a different person in her seat. WTF? I mean, if you had an open seat to move my 8 year old daughter into, why not put the stranger in that seat?

I had to talk to 3 different people to switch it back. Every person was like "well, the flight is full". What that had to do with ANYTHING, I have no idea. Just switch those 2 people for Christ's sake. I was irate and getting transferred doesn't help with our anxiety, does it?

I work on the phone a lot for my job and I tell you the "just hit zero a bunch of times" thing simply does not work any more. You get a recording that says "I'm sorry, I don't understand. Please try again." Fuck that.
