I didn't even know it was in the works. Hope like hell it sees the light of day. Wonder if he had a late-night visitor encouraging him to stay silent...

  • Yeah apparently he even got ahold of Tillman's diary and everything...interviewed his family members. It was going to be titled The Hero and due out October 14...guess not so much anymore.

probably because 97.4% of the people on here had no fucking clue who he was prior to the Ed involvement... the other 6.3% were too busy doing Maths
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
  • looks very interesting.

Ok, that's a really really good point.

I've been a HUGE fan of Krakauer's ever since I read Into Thin Air in college. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd go all "misery" on him...but yeah, I'm kind of obsessed. LOL!

Did you read Under the Banner of Heaven? That was really good -- and chilling. Religion run amok!

I wouldn't be surprised if Jon wasn't completely sure about the all the facts and the timing of the release this close to an election ......he took a lot of heat after Into Thin Air was published and he was there when those events transpired!

Did you ever read the book put out by the Russian guide who told his story in response to Jon's version?

"Into Thin Air" is one damn fine read. :D

I don't know what to think of him, I saw the same thing on every ITW related interview he gave, he came off as arrogant to me. Talking about him climbing that mountain and that it was more risky than McCandless. I don't know, to climb a mountain and tell me about it on at least 3 different occasions isn't much compared to donating all your money and burning your stuff.

  • Love his books. It sucks it was delayed but I can't wait to read it when it comes out.
  • I've been a big Krakauer fan since I read Into The Wild for school around 2000/2001 (long before Ed and the movie, so you can imagine how stoked I was when i heard of ed's involvement). Had to read Into Thin Air right after that cuz I really liked his storytelling. I'm surprised I hadn't heard about this. I'm a huge PT supporter, read most books about him and donate to his foundation. I bought a commemorative #40 Cardinals jersey and have it framed. I remember the day I heard of his death, was in class and got the news when i was screwing around on a computer. Got outta class very sad and shocked and went and found my friend. We didn't have to say anything to each other, just kinda shook our heads, went back to our house and watched the news coverage. I bet this book will be amazing, too bad it might be a while before we get to read it.
He floated back down 'cause he wanted to share, his key to the locks on the chains he saw everywhere.
