I didn't even know it was in the works. Hope like hell it sees the light of day. Wonder if he had a late-night visitor encouraging him to stay silent...

probably because 97.4% of the people on here had no fucking clue who he was prior to the Ed involvement... the other 6.3% were too busy doing Maths

Ok, that's a really really good point.
I've been a HUGE fan of Krakauer's ever since I read Into Thin Air in college. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd go all "misery" on him...but yeah, I'm kind of obsessed. LOL!
Did you read Under the Banner of Heaven? That was really good -- and chilling. Religion run amok!
I wouldn't be surprised if Jon wasn't completely sure about the all the facts and the timing of the release this close to an election ......he took a lot of heat after Into Thin Air was published and he was there when those events transpired!
Did you ever read the book put out by the Russian guide who told his story in response to Jon's version?
first I have to get it though.........

if you liked that you should read "The Climb" by Anatoli Boukreev and G Weston DeWalt...it's from a different perspective and very interesting
