My sister and I crayoned our entire closet in Maine when we were youngsters.

    My mom was PISSED.

Don't remember how/if she ever got it off though.

Today I got rid of all of the regular crayons in favor of a new pack of washable ones. :D

Have you tried vinegar? If it's a lot, you can mix it with water....otherwise just put a bit on a towel.

They ARE washable crayons. I've been using 409 and papertowels...and that helped alot....but it's still visible.

Try a magic eraser, worked wonders when my niece drew all over the walls at my mom's house.

oh god M, as soon as I saw the title I went

I'm sorry I've never been able to get crayon off walls. I have needed to get it off if wood floors. But that's much easier. I know I worked for a family who's housekeeper tried the magic eraser thing and it ruined the wall. Ugh!

No magic eraser here at the house....and being that I take care of 3 kids I won't be able to go to the store. Any other recommendations?? Bleach is unsafe on the walls/paint, right?

Honestly I heard that if you use pencil over the crayon and then erase the pencil, the crayon will come up.... never tried it though

  • when i was little i remember my little bro writing with crayon all over the wall my mom had me (i was only like 5!!) use baby wipes to get it off-i remember it worked pretty well!
  • Flat or semi gloss paint?

    hopefully the latter...

Umm...considering the black crayon isn't coming off easily I'm not going to risk it. Thanks for the idea though.

this site had a lot of stuff you can try... the hair dryer thing sounds interesting...
    http://www.ehow.com/tips_13298.html

"What really worked was heating the surface with the blow dryer for 30 seconds and then wiping the crayon stain off with a scrub damped in soapy water. I had to wipe it off again with a cloth damped in water to remove the soap from the wall. It worked so perfectly!"

it is too bad you can't get to a magic eraser. i am obsessed with them! they're like the duct tape of cleaning supplies! :p

edit: umm, yeah, actually most of these sound kind of sketch. like the mayonnaise one. in high school i tried the mayo in the hair tip to make it super soft and instead it made it greasy, i smelled like mayo for two weeks, and gave me a severe repulsion to mayo.

    no idea.

Is the paint shiny or is it totally matte?

If it's shiny, you can rub a little harder than if it's flat.

I've read several web sites that say white distilled vinegar works, and it certainly got a ton of dirt off of the walls we just painted on our enclosed porch (it was probably dirt that had been on there for like 30 years, no joke) so I'd give it a try on the crayon.

It's gonna depend on the paint finish really AC, if it's an oil base paint then a drop of white spirit on a rag (just a drop mind) should fetch it off, but if it's a water base emulsion, I would just suggest using a houshold cream cleaner of some sort, maybe the stuff you would use on the cooker. It's hard to say :o
    I came, I saw, I concurred.....

Magic Eraser- can't live without it. Didn't believe it until I used it.

Black Sharpie marker- try Spray Nine or Tilex- let it sit and scrub with Magic Eraser.
