Friends body found in Costa Rica

just got a call from my little brother. a friend of ours body was found hanging in Costa Rica. the police are calling it a suicide....his hands were tied behind his back.

now, he wasn't a childhood friend or anything. but i had known him for about 8 years. i met him at my job that i am currently at. he was one of the nicest people there. we always talked music, bands, guitar playing; we swapped tablature books and helped each other out with songs. hung out a couple of times but our schedules were so different and also some of the people he hung around i didn't care much for.

i lost touch with him when he up and moved to Denver more than a few years ago. my brother let me in on that news as well. he moved back to town a couple years back and i kept wanting to get together. never did. and now this news.

I'm no crime scene specialist or anything but I would imagine killing yourself isn't easy with your hands tied behind your back...

i'm trying very hard and cannot think how would one even be able to tie one's hands behind his own back. strange.

Yeah, not trying to make light of the subject. But I hope they investigate the fact that he hung himself with his hands tied behind his back. Hopefully the Costa Rican authority isn't totally corrupt.

no, you guys are right. it's disturbing to me. i guess they did find $2000 with him.

Sorry to hear about the tragic death of your friend.
That is so sad to read about.

As for the cause, yes, he could have committed suicide. All he had to do was tie the noose while he was standing on a chair, tie his hands and then jump.
God, I never thought I would ever type that.
Again, condolences to the op and his family.

So sorry to hear :( no matter how long you've known someone , it still very painful. Like others have mentioned.. very unlikely that a suicide victim would have their hands tied behind their back (logistically, it would be impossible but maybe im missing some info) I hope someone checks into your friends death.. my warm thoughts to you and his fam.

actually, i have heard of this b4. they put the rope around their neck first, tie their hands in front of them, step through then .............

anyway, the idea behind it is this, if you decide you dont want to go through with it in the middle as you struggle, you cant free yourself. its usually done by people who really want to die, but are afraid they cant go through with it.

however, this with him being where he was sounds very ..........odd to me.
