It's not exactly determined yet, nor has the bill been passed....but is supposed to be around $600 for singles, and $1200 for married couples.

haha....$600 each, $1200 for couples (2 x $600). It's per tax return. If you field single, you will get a single $600 check. If you filed joint, you will get a single $1200 check.

It depends on how you file your taxes. If you file individually (either as a single, or married filing seperately) you're line for about $600. Married filing jointly get $1,200. Each kid on your list of dependants is another $300 I beleive.

You'll get the same $$ wether you married the goof or not!

but okay if it is a single income family then they still get 1200??

    wait. one. cotton. picking. minute.

    kids are 300 bucks??

what about those of us that figure we will be bringing some half goofus half horndog god awful hybrids into this world so we choose not to breed.

shouldn't there be a "thanks for not breeding" tax credit??

I mean, I am so not mom material. and seriously, THAT goofus???

as a dad? like uh, nope. I think we should get 300 for NOT breeding.

how about if you get more for cute kids. ;) (I would be out on that count too)

I read the statement on the white house website....didn't notice any Goofus discounts. But I also didn't see any kind of Goofus Non-Breeder waiver either.

Your post made me laugh. I have been wondering for years where my bonus was for being smart enough to not bring a child into this fucked up world in which we live. Also a bonus for not getting knocked up when not married and living off the system??? :D

Well, the bill is in limbo. The vote was 58-41 with the only non voter John McCain. The bill fell one vote short of being passed and now the Republicans are going to filibuster it. Republican leaders objected to add-ons such as a $14.5 billion unemployment extension for those whose benefits have run out, $1 billion in heating aid for the poor and tax breaks for renewable energy producers and coal companies.

The dispute has slowed down the stimulus measure, but there's no indication that it will delay rebate checks, which are expected to begin arriving in May. The rebates will be based on 2007 tax returns, which aren't due until April 15.

  • I heard only singles making over $75,000 / year and couples making more than $150,000 / year will get $600 or $1,200, respectively.

People who make at least $5,000 / year will get $300.

You have it backwards.... the rebate goes to people that make less than the $75k/$150k amounts.
