a couple of tribute videos for evan, set to "guaranteed"...this was the last song evan had on his myspace profile, so people have been making videos with the song and adding the lyrics from the song in tributes to him.

i'm sure many of us find have found the song to be an emotional one, perhaps even if it's just from time to time. for me, right now, it's really getting into my heart.

  • Didn't know much about him as I am not a UFC guy. But was listening to sports talk radio yesterday and heard his story. Immediately thought of Into The Wild. I guess he left a note a few months back saying he was going to disappear and even hinted to his own demise.

yeah, he is not very well known outside of people who watch the sport, but his blogs were sometimes read by people outside the sport because they were more often about life, philosophy, and his travels more than they were about fighting.

the note you mention was a blog that he wrote, not unlike many that he had written before. this was just supposed to be another camping trip for him. he'd done it numerous times in many places. he wanted to go into the deep desert this time, however, and knew that he would have to have all of his equipment working well in order for him to survive. so, when he wrote that blog a lot of people were alarmed because he'd said "...any failure of my equipment could cost me my life.", intending to stress how important it was that he be prepared for the trip. he didn't intend for it to be taken as it was. he ended up running out of gas, then out of water, and the calls he'd made for help didn't get help there in time, sadly.

edit: i suppose i should have mentioned who he was. also, he liked the song and had posted it on his myspace page a couple of times, but it happened to be the one that will remain there. a lot of the articles being written about his passing are including a mention of the song and sometimes including the lyrics as well.
