Some people have a sudden change in blood pressure when they stand up first thing in the morning. It's called Syncope.

    http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4749

    Syncope

    What is syncope?

Syncope (SIN'ko-pe) is temporary loss of consciousness and posture, described as "fainting" or "passing out." It's usually related to temporary insufficient blood flow to the brain.

It most often occurs when the blood pressure is too low (hypotension) and the heart doesn't pump a normal supply of oxygen to the brain.

    What causes syncope?

It may be caused by emotional stress, pain, pooling of blood in the legs due to sudden changes in body position, overheating, dehydration, heavy sweating or exhaustion. Syncope may occur during violent coughing spells (especially in men) because of rapid changes in blood pressure. It also may result from several heart, neurologic, psychiatric, metabolic and lung disorders. And it may be a side effect of some medicines.

    Peace

I have gotten very light-headed when getting up fast but I never fainted.

Being my usual insensitive self, I was going to make a joke about how as an HR person, you have my permission to call in sick. Sounds like you are way head of me...

I've fainted probably 30-40 times since the age of 3. Generally I would need a nap afterwards and sugar to fell better. Usually I would drink coke.

That's some scary stuff, I hope you're okay now.

I once passed out during sex. Scared the hell out of me. I was just dehydrated and got up to fast. That's the only time I've passed out other than being knocked out.

That happened to a friend of mine a couple years ago. They were in the process of moving and I guess she hurt her back and got up in the middle of the night and completely passed out...she was out for awhile apparently. Very scary.

Interesting, have you had this checked out yet? If not, maybe it's time now? If for anything, to just clear her semi-freaked out mind when it turns out to be nothing to really think of. At least there'd be a confirmation on it now.

That is interesting. I pass out all the time but my wife seems more annoyed than concerned.

i'm one of those people that are scared shitless of the doctor, or maybe it's just that i am so stubborn. it took a lot for me to go just a few weeks ago for my 2nd degree sunburn...and then a week later for depression/anxienty...i don't know how i did it.

but yea, it's probably time. it won't be today or tomorrow though

I'm the same way. I rarely go to the doctor anymore.

At least you've warmed up to a bit recently for things that needed to be checked out. Good for you. :)
