PS3 owners, a question...

you are my google...

are there any plans, that you know of, to add achievements to it's games/system?

this is one thing that really keeps games interesting to me...

    I'm pretty sure he's talking about something that the 360 does. Whenever you unlock something, or meet certain requirements when playing a 360 game, you get that achievement in your player profile, along with a certain number of points added to your gamer profile. It's used, more or less, as bragging rights and to see where you stand as a gamer.

    i thought you might be the first to answer :)

    here's an example:

    basically, every game has 1000 points worth of achievements...some have more when additional content is released for the game.

    it just adds to your gamerscore and lets others see what games you have played...

    and like i said, i think it keeps things interesting...many times after beating a game i go back through and try to unlock achievements if i hadn't already.

    a lot of people use it brag...i use it to see how i compare to friends

    Yes.
    Accomplishments.
    Integrated into Playstation Home due out sometime in 2007...er 2008...maybe 2009...
    As well as in-game XMB (dashboard, friend interface).

    I'm not trying to change your mind but rent haze. Everything I've heard about the demo is not good. Killzone 2 has also been postponed

    I have one, but for me it would be MGS4, Socom: Confrontation, MLB '08 The Show, Gran Turismo, + others.

    Haze doesn't even look interesting to me at all, and I really don't know much about Killzone. :)

    Hopefully Socom: Con will be more like 1 & 2 and less like three. I loved 1, actually still play it once in a while. 2 was kickass with the new levels and weapons...also loved that one. 3...blew.

    hey that's ok...

    i like input...afterall, i'm just going by videos i watch on ign.com.

    i never just buy a game...i wait for reviews and for at least one of my friends to buy it so i can try it out.

    and....i didn't know that about Killzone

    well initially, Haze was announced as multiplatform but then it was decided to make it a PS3 exclusive...this kind of bummed me out...

    i have grown tired of Halo 3 and i can only take so many war games (COD4) but not all fps look the same to me...i just thought Haze looked good. and i really like Killzone for ps2.

    MGS4 will be good...oh, and i do love the racing games!

    have you seen the GoW 2 trailer they got up now? Looks pretty sweet. Yea, killzone 2 has been delayed until Feb. 2009 so that sucks.

    I was seriously pumped for Haze and then I dl'd the demo...now I'm not so pumped any more ;)
    It isn't particularly bad, it just isn't particularly good.
    Killzone 2 looks good, but when we'll see it is a good one.
    I wouldn't even think about selling my 360 for a PS3 (I have both, but that isn't the point).
    Never was a MG fan but I will be getting this one. GT5 (I have prologue) and Final Fantasy are my big PS3 deals.

    There's an article on IGN that discusses the new Socom game with one of the lead developers. I guess they've brought it back to the Socom 1 and 2 kind of gameplay. Smaller maps, no vehicles, more focused on gameplay...you should check it out, a good read.
    I own all of the Socom games and I guess I have become less impressed over the last two, but this one is going to be damn cool!
