that game reminded me of the ranger/buffalo game a few years back when drury scored for buffalo with seven seconds left, then won it in OT on the power play on a blast from the blue line.

that game was one of my most painful ranger memories.

BUT we will go with the similarity comparison. buffalo won that one in six, and so will the rangers

    happy? hehe.

goes to show how perfect a team's goaltending has to be. as INCREDIBLE as lundqvist has been, he has allowed in some soft game winners.

thought tonight we would had been talking about how he should have stopped the cap's second goal.

del zotto played a gritty game. kudos to him.

he didn't let up on his physical play even after getting called for two penalties in the first half of the game.

my father calls after they tied it at the end said he forgot they were on and as soon as he turned it on, they scored....I said he has to finish the game now. He switched to Hawaii 5-0 or something turned the game back just in time for the winner. Going to remind him Wednesday to watch :)

Since I'm still on their mailing list:

    - New York is now 205-221-8 overall in postseason action, including a 114-86-2 mark at home.
    - The Rangers out-shot the Capitals, 38-18, in the contest, including a 17-4 advantage in the first period. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Blueshirts’ 17 shots are a franchise record for most shots on goal in a single period during a playoff game, and the 13-shot advantage is the most for the Rangers all-time in a single period of a playoff game.
    - The Blueshirts won 28-49 faceoffs for a 57% success rate. Brad Richards won a game-high, 12-18 faceoffs (67%), while Brian Boyle won 10-18 (56%).
    - The Rangers out-hit the Capitals, 29-14, including five players who were credited with at least three hits in the contest. Stu Bickel, Derek Stepan and Dan Girardi tied for the game-high with four blocked shots apiece.
    - The team that has scored first in each game this series has won.
    - Nine of the Rangers’ 12 playoff games have been decided by one goal, including four that were decided in overtime.

    Player Notes:
    - Marc Staal notched the game-winning goal, while on the power play, at 1:35 in overtime, and added the primary assist on the game’s opening goal to earn first star honors. It is his second career multi-point performance in a playoff game, and his first career overtime game-winning goal in the postseason. Staal has now recorded three points (one goal, two assists) in the last two games.

    - Brad Richards tallied the game-tying goal, while on the power play, with 6.6 seconds remaining in regulation and won a game-high, 12-18 faceoffs (67%) in 22:59 of ice time. He has registered nine points (four goals, five assists) in the last nine games. Richards leads the team and is tied for fourth in the NHL in playoff scoring with 10 points (five goals, five assists).

    - Anton Stralman notched the game’s opening goal at 10:44 of the first period, and logged 17:37 of ice time. He now leads all NHL defensemen with three goals in postseason action.

    - Henrik Lundqvist made 16 saves to improve to 22-25 overall in the playoffs, including a 12-11 mark at home.

    - John Mitchell tallied the lone assist on Staal’s overtime, game-winning goal, registered three shots on goal and won all four of his faceoffs. The assist was his first career playoff point.

    - Ryan Callahan recorded the primary assist on Richards’ game-tying goal, and registered five shots, three hits and a team-high, three blocked shots in 23:44 of ice time. He has tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in the last three games.

    - Michael Del Zotto registered an assist on the game-tying, power play goal, and was credited with three hits in 20:28 of ice time. He has tallied five points (one goal, four assists) in the last seven games. Del Zotto is now tied for second among NHL defensemen in playoff assists (five) and third in playoff points (six).

    - Derek Stepan recorded one assist, three shots on goal, and tied for the game-high with four hits in the contest. He has tallied seven points (one goal, six assists) in the last seven games, and is now tied for sixth in the NHL in playoff assists (six).

    Post-Game Quotes:
    - John Tortorella on overtime in the playoffs…
“They’re all emotional games. It’s a kick in the gut when you lose because it happens so quickly and it’s pretty exciting when you win because it happens quick.”

    - Henrik Lundqvist on Marc Staal…
“He’s getting better and better – more physical. He made some great plays in the third period, two breakups - big opportunities for them. That’s the Marc we want. He’s all over the ice. In our own end making big stops, then he’s joining the rush. He adds a lot to our game.”

    - Ryan Callahan on the atmosphere in the Garden…
“It’s awesome. They supported us all night. Twenty seconds left, they’re standing up chanting “let’s go Rangers.” That fuels you. That makes you feel good. To be able to get that one for them and hear the Garden explode – I haven’t heard it that loud since I’ve been here.”

gotta go to the stats, hank is like 27-5 against brodeur with a GAA well under 2. the series will give me an ulcer, but i like the ranger's odds.

Marty scares me so much. If he gets on a roll you might as well just be shooting at a concrete wall. I'm still worried about the Craps though.
