I was a little boy the last time I tackled those spiral staircases leading up to the Statue Of Liberys Crown - that looks over NY Harbors entryway and the greater NY / NJ area!

This would be so cool !

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The federal government is considering reopening the Statue of Liberty's crown for the first time since the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The National Park Service sent out a request for bids last month to study what it would take to open the statue to the public.
Visitors are now limited to the statue's pedestal.
Congressman Anthony Weiner calls the move a breakthrough

Weiner planned to hold a press conference about the development on Friday, Independence Day.

    I hope they do it.

Going to the top of the statue is the only reason I would bother seeing her from any closer than the ferry.
Walking can be a real trip

    i hope so too.

I think the torch is totally out of the question- but if the crown were to open , it would make the most drastic of difference.

The crown looks like it would provide amazing views.

I don't understand why they closed it for more than a week in the first place. Is that like the "Field of Dreams" for terrorist attacks or something?

i believe the old infrastructuure was starting to rapidly deteriorate,

and then subsequently the terrorsuit attacks happened, and that pretty much took care of that . Im not surte if they did any work inside up to this point- we shall see,.....

That makes sense, since it's old. Maybe they should call France and have them fix it :)

What?! First we're opening it back up so all the terrorists can go blow it up and now we're thinking about letting a frenchman come in?! Jesus. The 4th of July sure does pass quickly.
