According to Broadwayworld.com, "The Amazing Spider-Man" is the new
title of the upcoming broadway production with music written by Bono
and The Edge. Due to scheduling and theater issues (the producers can't
find an open theater), it is now slated to open in late 2009 or early
2010.

The site also states that Marvel Comics executive Peter Cuneo confirmed
that the show is a definite-go, and that the show is already done. He
said that they "are very pleased with our Browadway show."

NEW YORK A Broadway musical version of "The Amazing Spider-Man" is
slated to open in late 2009 or in 2010, reports Broadwayworld.com.

The site said Julie Taymor ("The Lion King," "Frida," etc.) is
directing and U2's Bono and The Edge are doing the music.

"Spider-Man" is also known as a comic book, comic strip, and movie
property. Stan Lee, who created the web-slinging character in 1962,
writes the 1977-launched newspaper strip for King Features Syndicate.

The Broadwayworld.com story was linked today on Tom Spurgeon's Comics
Reporter blog.

My first instinct is to trash this - but sometimes, they make extremely enjoyable shows out of the dumbest idea.

Wow. Superheros should not be made into broadway plays. Maybe "Wolverine-the Musical" is next.
