Do you not normally eat meat?

I haven't had red meat or pork in 13 years, and occasionally at a restaurant I'll find something in my food.

Unfortunately cooks in most restaurants (esp. non-fancy restaurants) aren't very good about that kind of stuff...and probably don't think about it.

Where I work we prepare vegetarian food. Making sure to use separate knives and cutting boards, and always cleaning your hands as to not cross contaminate is of utmost importance.

can't say it better than ron white:

"Have you ever seen a healthy-looking vegetarian? They look like shit! They're all gaunt and yellow. After a while, their bodies become intolerant of other things. I'll give you an example. I was out to lunch with a comedian friend of mine, and later in the day he said and I quote, "I feel nauseous and I have a headache. That soup I had must have had beef broth in it." Your system's kickin back broth?"

I agree. I do eat a little bit of meat, but have no problem respecting those who wish to abstain from it completely. It's the least we can do at the restaurant to ensure a meal that is of the quality of which one should expect. After all, you are paying customers with specific beliefs in respect to the food you eat :)

*Oh yea... why is fish considered less meaty if not completely un-meaty in the veg world?

Well I don't make the distinction. When I became veggie there was never any question that meant not eating fish as well. I do get a lot of people when I say I'm veggie thinking I eat fish which I can never understand.

Was in one place where there was nothing veggie on the menu and they said oh it's ok the chef will prepare you something ... then they brought me paella
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

  • I ordered a bean and cheese burrito at taco bell about a month ago, bit into it and got a mouthful of ground beef.. normally i wouldn't care but I've been a vegetarian for almost a year now and it really pissed me off. It doesn't gross me out but I'm doing it for a bet and now I only get half the money cause my friend who bet me was there. what a dickhead he is.

Whenever possible its better to seek out a vegan or vegetarian restaurant where the servers/cooks respect our beliefs. You really don't know what's going on in the kitchen of a restaurant that includes meat on its menu. If people don't respect your beliefs they aren't going to be careful about helping you follow them.
