I might have to put one of my dogs to sleep tomorrow...

This is the only thing I hate about having pets...they don't outlive you. Of course, I am thinking worse case scenario, but the vet said the possibility is definitely there. He's got severe abdominal pain and he had a really high fever, but the fever has since gone down. He can barely walk and he just looks like he is in lots of pain.

Please send good vibes, I really don't want my big guy to die.
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

    if your doggie gets better and spend more days with you, make sure you make it last. theres nothing worse than losing your doggie. its weird that i came here tonite to post about my Surfer in the doggie thread and i see this thread.

    I'm so sorry. I know the pain. Take comfort in the thought that you will always have treasured memories of your best friend. Hollow comfort at the moment, but it will help later.

    i am so, so soooooooooooooooooo saddened for you and your poooch! truly! it *IS* absolutely one of the most difficult things to do in this world, and breaks your heart. as an adult petowner, i've had to put down one dog, and it was just crushing. i had two other dogs die, and while 'easier' in that i didn't call the day....still heartbreaking. as a child, 2 dogs and one kitty put down...and ugh.....stil breaks my heart thinking about it. in the end, if your doggie is suffering, tis the kindest thing to do.....but sure, i soooo sympathize and empathize. all the best to you during such a difficult decision and time in your life. much love to your poochie!

    He's gone Mel...we had to put him down at 2:30 this morning. He couldn't breathe...it was painful to watch...

    His pic is in my myspace...he's the big guy...the little guy saw his collar and started crying...like he know his big brother was gone...it was touching, yet very sad...it's not the same around here without Hercules.

    Thanks again to everyone...I know I could count on my PJ friends...

    When I got in my car this afternoon, I was listening to the SF3 boot from '06...and Light Years came on...I choked up as I sang it and I dedicate it to my big guy...

    So sorry for your loss. :( It's never easy. Sadly, I've had to go through the same kind of thing-many times. Just know that you gave them a good life and they enriched yours. :)

    I KNOW he's up in Dog heaven and if he couldn't breathe then yes it was his time to go. He was very lucky to have such a wonderful home on his short stay in this life.

    Was it bloat? That's what it sounds like.

    I honestly hope that when that time comes for my boys, they will go peacefully at home because I don't know if I could drive them to the vet's office and know that whole time that they're about to be put down.

    I hope that I have a very long time before that has to happen.
    I have dogs instead of children... I'd rather ruin my carpet than my life.
